Samsung is splashing out some cash for Windows Mobile advertisements. Here is the latest creation designed to show off the Samsung Omnia II.
Inspiration seems to have been taken from the Apple iPhone for these ads and have to say they have not done a bad job. It is good to see Windows Mobile devices being properly marketted.
The Brodit mount for the HTC HD2 is now available!
Available in passive (pictured), active (with cigarette lighter cable) and with a molex cable for hard wiring, the mount starts at £24.76 and is available now from DSL Developments.
Of course, it has the usual outstanding Brodit build quality and comes highly recommended by yours truly!
Packing Windows Mobile 6.5 in a very desirable design (complete with trademark arc slider), the X2 is available in both black and silver as pictured here. I've been using the X2 for a number of weeks, and now that the software on the device has hit retail status, it's time to open up my 'Ask Paul'.
If you have any questions about the device ahead of my full review (which will be online later this week), then post here! News page readers, click through to the main topic for a larger image.

PS I will be posting camera samples from the 8.1 megapixel camera - I know that's going to be a big point of interest!

Quite a lot of people have something against capacitive screens, as they're typically less accurate, and for a lot of purposes such as sketching I agree. Stauntum who previously demonstrated a very responsive resistive multitouch screen are again trying to bring the best of both to one device.
It features pressure sensing, multitouch with many points of contacts, and an incredible level of sensitivity for resistive screens.
According to Clove, we can expect a stylus for capacitive screens to be coming fairly soon for the reasonable price of £15 + VAT.

Have you been struggling to get to grips with the HTC HD2's capacitive touch screen? Been screaming out for a stylus that will allow you to select items and navigate the screen with more ease? Worry no more. This official stylus from HTC is designed specifically to work with the capacitive touch screen of the HTC HD2. Using the latest technology the stylus will allow you to better use your HD2. No more fingers or thumbs!
Maybe it uses the technology mentioned and patented earlier this year, but maybe it doesn't...
Whether it's necessary, I'm not sure. From my time with the HD2 fingers are definanetly easy enough, but since I haven't got a capacitive stylus, I have no idea how useful it will be. What do you think?
It's been a long wait, but you can now get the much talked about HTC HD2 on O2 and T-Mobile.
For some reason it's not on the O2 website yet, but it is on the T-Mobile site now and FREE on a £35 a month tariff (24 months!), or £40 a month for 18 months.
Anyone got one yet? Let us know what you've been offered so I know where to get my Christmas shopping
HTC have released a hotfix for The HTC Touch2, Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional QVGA device.
This update for the brings you the added value of being able to unlock your device with a convenient way. Your device will be more responsive to resume after “sleeping” to conserve power.
Note: This update is only applicable to the following AKU version. -> "21849≦AKU version≦21874". You can check AKU version from Setting -> System -> About Eg: CE OS 5.2.21869 (Build 21869.5.0.82). The AKU version is 21869.
There is a hidden entry in the HTC HD2's Registry that proves that this device supports the latest Draft N Wireless standard! Going to HKLM\Comm\BCMSDDHD1\Parms and changing the value of 11nModeDisable from the default 1 to 0 will activate this support which seems to be disabled by default.
This has been tested, and the HD2 can connect to Wireless N routers, giving you increased speeds. So if you have a 802.11 N spec router and a HTC HD2, then its time to make a change and benefit from the increase in speed!
Mobiholics is the place to go for all non Windows Mobile related mobile talk - discussing networks, non WinMo devices etc. As part of the MoDaCo.network, your existing MoDaCo login automagically works over there too!
Just a few days back we published information on a software bug in the HTC HD2 Sense Calendar. Well that could be fixed by a software/ROM update which HTC could release, but much more worrying is this new issue.
It has been established that the HTC HD2 Camera has a hardware defect. All pictures taken with the device exhibited a Pink/Purple hue. Several users have contacted HTC's support and received following answer:
QUOTE
Dear valued HTC customer, Thank you for your enquiry about your handset. This is a hardware issue and you can contact your re-seller to exchange the device for another one or contact us and we will send this device to be repair. If these steps have not helped, please let me know by responding using the link provided and I will be happy to check again for you.
An ongoing discussion is under way over at xda-developers.
A quote from that thread:

Hi Mike,
Thats not a software problem, our apologies. I can now confirm we have established this being a hardware fault. Unfortunately at this stage it is too early to determine exactly where the fault lays but it most certainly is not a software related issue. If you can ask CLove to swap it, please do so, if not we will come and collect it for repair.
You can arrange this by calling 08458900079.
Best Regards
This seems like a serious issue. Can you replicate this problem? It would be interesting to see if all HD2's in the marketplace currently suffer from this issue. If you have a HD2, please post your ROM versions, build dates and whether you have this issue or not.
If you have the issue it is recommended you contact the re-seller and/or HTC. Let us know your experiences.
Update 24th Nov 2009: HTC have now stated this is a software issue, and it will be addressed with a hotfix. We will await the release of this Hotfix, and user testing, before updating further.
I have just spotted a new addition to Marketplace. Office 2010 Beta.
