I have a confession to make. I bought a MacBook. That's not the worst of it tho... not only did I buy a Mac, I really like it wink.gif It's sexy as hell, fast, it was great value and I'm even becoming quite attached to OSX! Oh, and I forgot to mention that it syncs GREAT with my P4550, courtesy of 'Missing Sync' from 'Mark/Space'.

If you're a Mac user, i'm pretty certain you'll already have heard of Missing Sync. For those unfamiliar, probably the easiest way to describe it is 'ActiveSync / WMDC for OSX'. Doing so would be something of an injustice however, as unlikely the aforementioned applications it's featured packed and ultra reliable biggrin.gif

The latest release of Missing Sync has just become available - version 4 - which adds a host of new features - not least of which is Windows Mobile 6 support.

From the Missing Sync page...

QUOTE
Windows Mobile, meet Mac OS X

The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile lets you easily connect and synchronize Windows Mobile Smartphones and Pocket PCs with your Mac.

Features at a Glance
  • Connects with Windows Mobile devices via USB and Bluetooth
  • Supports devices running Windows Mobile 2002/2003/5/6
  • Syncs with Address Book, iCal, Entourage 2004 and others
  • Syncs Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other files
  • Downloads iPhoto albums and iTunes playlists
  • Imports device-side photos and video
  • Encodes QuickTime video for mobile playback
  • Provides drag-and-drop install of .cab-formatted applications
  • Displays phone call and SMS text message logs on the Mac
  • Supports two Macs and any number of Windows Mobile devices
  • Universal application provides the best performance
What's New In Version 4.0
  • Support for devices running Windows Mobile 6
  • Sort, search, annotate, export call log history on the Mac
  • View/search SMS message history on the Mac*
  • Address Book integration for call log and SMS data
  • Encodes and downloads video for mobile viewing
  • Imports video from device separately from photos
  • SyncMinder™ device management
  • Interface improvements

The number of supported sync options puts ActiveSync / WMDC to shame in a big way. Call log sync, video encoding for download to the device, SMS message syncing and many other options are things Windows users can only dream of. Oh the irony!

The price? $39.95 for new users or $24.95 upgrade (free if you purchased Missing Sync in the last 60 days)... now if only they'd do a Windows version biggrin.gif

Like you, I have also abandoned the Microsoft Beige box and joined the Mac Brigade. I was fed up with waitng for the kettle to boil - sorry, waiting for Windows to get to a usable state and all the patches and updates etc etc. Now I have a machine that not only starts up and is ready to use in 20 seconds but also 'just works' and looks real handsome.
And, I have the option of booting into Win XP via Boot Camp, should I need it. About the only reason I will have to use XP is for installing apps or ROM upgrades for my HTC Tytn.
I have also been using The Missing Sync for about 5 months with no issues at all - even syncs my Tytn iTunes playlist!

If you're talking about using your mob as a modem I found this http://www.aralbalkan.com/765/ there's a small paragraph titled "Using the Vario II as a modem in OS X" which gives you the gen you need

Hope it helps

On my Kaiser at least, I just enable internet sharing via bluetooth and select 'Join network' on the Mac Bluetooth menu bar item.

I do the same thing with my Samsung i600 - enable Bluetooth PAN and then just select Join Network. Works well.
