in short, Rom ver 1.7 users will just have to wait until a next update of the SPVlock right? unless there is a way to downgrade the rom to ver. 1.6

until then... I'll just wait biggrin.gif

No, the unlock app works fine, Smart have altered the OS so that it
will not ask you to enter the code once you have it, thus making unlocking
impossible unless you can physically hack the rom
The only option is to downgrade to an earlier version but that can
have it's problems as wellas downgrading the 1.7 is not a simple process either.

Ok, then its given, its impossible to unlock ver. 1.7. As you stated the only way is to downgrade to a lower version. Two questions: 1. What problems can we expect and 2. What's the process?

I'll probably get a slap for this, but here goes...

3 (as in three.co.uk) offer exceptionally cheap network service, if you use it on a 3G phone (ironically) it's s***, cos it's constantly switching from 2G to 3G.. now here for the plus for all you smartphone users...

Because the spv is so archaic and uses 2.5G (2G+GPRS) it's *cough* not going to work on the 3G Service (boo hiss, no porno videos!) but will allow you to get exceptionally cheap service via o2 (who provide the 2G Service to three)...

so peoples, if your about to end your contract period with O, err.. sim unlock and get a 3pay sim and enjoy.. can confirm it works (just did it now).. and am now getting a lot more for my money than I used to, if you went 3pay (payg) you'd get 100 mins month for £15, or a happy little number of 500 for £25. - i also got an nice little paperweight with my new contract too (Moto A920) which might find it's way onto eBay, now imagine it sold for £180 - free calls for a year wink.gif - yay to abusing cheap calls and other special offers smile.gif

I have a big problem,I can´t unlock my SPV.
I´ve tried two ways:

1º-The mobiles.com way, wich we have to copy a file from windows and replace it by another one;and

2º-Using the SPVunlock program from airfagev.com.

In the first one I couldn´t copy the file on time, the activesync is too slow,in the second one the program gives me a number but i don´t know where to put it.

Can anyone please help me?
I´m from Portugal and I can´t use the phone until I unlock it.
Tanks

alan2004 and MrB9 you have to be using Window 2k or XP Win 98 and ME are not supported as they do not have the USB support needed.

cool-freak
The first method you are trying is the old application unlock not SIM unlock and has not worked since the 1.5 update was released.
The SPVunlock app you are using is probably the old one you need version 2 which is linked to in the first post of this topic wink.gif

What am I doing wrong ? Got ROM update version 1.6.1.10. I've done everything but when I use another SIM I can't insert my code in. It says : Wait 1920 seconds (???????) It doesn't give me a chance to type the code in.

That is because the wrong code has been entered before, it is easy to make the mistake
as any keypress goes towards the entered code.
Best thing to do is power the phone on and do not touch it until it asks for the code.

If you are on the latest 1.7 Smart update then you cannot SIM unlock your phone.
SMART have altered the update to prevent you from SIM unlocking their phones sad.gif

You need USB with this app, also try diabling any firewalls you have running as this can also
cause problems. I generaly leave the phone connected in Canary mode and reboot the PC
etc before running the unlock app.

Well, I'm really happy cos i've unlocked my phone. I live in Spain and Orange doesn't. However I have a Vodaphone PAYG simcard which works fine except the phone wont use the vodaphone network. I expect I will have to pay extra for roaming. I have tried many times to select a new network although the signal is good it wont have it. Anybody have any suggestions? 8)
