ok, maybe i was a bit harsh, but isn't it a bit strange how noone ever asks tomtom about probelms using tt4 with a non tomtom gps
it doesn't work, means excatly that, i copied the file over from a 4.1 phone onto a 4.2 phone and it doesn't work, tomtom will delete the gps device if its named as the tomtom one and it isnt and a final thing, im sure its been said before but putting leaked roms on your phone you do at your own risk later Owen -------------------- Webdude - Digital Pimp - Fat free news (with added pie)

QUOTE(beersoft @ Jun 25 2005, 11:45) isn't it a bit strange how noone ever asks tomtom about probelms using tt4 with a non tomtom gps ... it doesn't work, means excatly that, i copied the file over from a 4.1 phone onto a 4.2 phone and it doesn't work, tomtom will delete the gps device if its named as the tomtom one and it isnt I think you may have forgotten to put your specs on 8) 1) I don't have TT4 - I have TT5 - legit 2) I don't have a 'non tomtom gps' I have the official one - legit 3) Which file did you copy? The only file I'm looking for is serialportsetup.exe from \Windows on a 4.2 C500 4) What on earth does "tomtom will delete the gps device if its named as the tomtom one and it isnt" mean? If someone could just e-mail the file without all this fuss that'd be great modaco at the-simpson dot tv Thanks in advance This post has been edited by earthling0001: Jun 25 2005, 11:53 -------------------- Thanks,

doh! its a bit early on a saturday for me trying to be clever, that and the voices in my head are shouting about beer again
/me puts on helpful hat ok, getting tt5 working on 4.2 roms we need to do this delete the gps partnership from the phone bond the gps with the phone add the gps as a serial port com6 with unsecured serial (the encryption confuses the gps and you get garbage from it) go into tomtom and it should see the gps, if it doesnt check in setttings > gps config this may or may not work on wm5 as well, as they both use the same bt config settings later owen the helpful -------------------- Webdude - Digital Pimp - Fat free news (with added pie)

Am I missing something? -------------------- Thanks,

Owen, THANK YOU so much. Why the **** TT don't tell you this in their 'comprehensive' FAQ is beyond me.

I have just upgraded to 4.2.1.1 and now i cant get my TT5 to work. Its not a matter of not getting the phone to connect with my TomTom Receiver, I am unable to agree to the terms and conditions (legal Notice) that comes up when first running it. The I AGREE button just does not work. Any ideas?
ANYONE HELP |

I just upgraded my SPV from the orange website, and it sounds like everyone is having probs with TTM4. I have apolstar GPS receiver, Yes you can buy this legally seperate to the SW. Now I cant get the GPS receiver to talk to the phone at all.
I have tried all the ideas from previous forum's i.e. renaming the device to TOM TOM Wireless etc. but TTM4 deletes the device when you run it. I have got incoming port 6, and also tried port 7 and also outgoing 6 and 7, but all possible combinations DO NOT WOrk Are there any registry tweaks to get around this, Or does any have a DEFINATIVE answer to why this doesnt work after the upgrade. I have checked the tomtom site, no answers there |

Create a folder in Storage/My Documents ans call it TomTom then drop a picture file in there. TT5 requires this folder as it plonks a file in there but It wont create it on its own unless of course your running an original version

Just to confirm that TTM5 works OK with the new ROM. I copied the files from my SD card to the PC, flashed it and copied them back. Didn't ask to be activated which is nice

I've just upgraded to the new ROM, but TTM 4 no longer works - although it links with the GPS receiver (original) and initally the map displays, as soon as I access the menus the screen goes all fuzzy and doesn't go back to normal. Does anyone else have this problem?
I've tried re-installing the traffic patch (after a hard reset), but to no avail. Any ideas about what to do? Thanks -------------------- Nokia 6110i / Nokia 6210i / Nokia 8310i / SPV Classic / SPV E200 / SPV C500 / SPV C600 / SPV M3100 / HTC Tytn II

Guys looking around I have found the following by a guy called eisbaer82
QUOTE Sorry, I've forgotten the BR Tags in last post. If you have the new Orange Software Update (with Windows Media Player 10) on your Phone, you need to create some Registry entries: Create the Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuildIn\BTOBSerial with values: Index as DWORD with value 6 Prefix as String with value COM Then bind the Parrot to COM6. If you wish to use COM7, set Index to 7. TomTom 5 will now find the Parrot as Other GPS Device (if it's configured to find other devices) Later Rik |

QUOTE(rikwebb @ Jul 14 2005, 20:37) Guys looking around I have found the following by a guy called eisbaer82 To make this process a little easier on everyone, I've made a little cab file which takes care of the registry entries for you (its a protected area).Later You can download it here: http://www.ulticonn.co.uk/anygps/AnyGPSTweak.cab It'll set it up as COM6 so make sure you add the COM port accordingly. QUOTE(RiCoCheT @ Jul 15 2005, 19:15) Created an incoming port - 6 You don't need the Incoming Port, just a single Outgoing Port on COM6. Oh and don't forget to start with bluetooth switched off before you launch TomTom, so that the GPS connects first before the handsfree kit (otherwise the serial link doesn't work properly).Created an outgoing port - 7 (this is called parottck3300) tried both (un)checking secure to no luck.
