Done This option and installed the .cab file.........The second option is to install from a CAB file directly on the device. To download the CAB file, visit this page from your device. Again, you may install to either Main Memory or Storage Card. Note that this is a 3MB file.

Tried this option via bluetooth but says i havent enough space so doesnt give me the option to install it to my 1gb memory card........
Installing .net Compact Framework 2.0 SP1

CamerAware is written using .net Compact Framework 2.0 SP1. Unfortunately, Smartphone and Pocket PCs don't yet contain this in ROM, so you need to install it manually.

To do so, download the redistributable package from this page and install to either Storage Card or Main Memory (if you have plenty of spare space) - both work fine, installing to Main Memory is slightly more performant.

Pryddie,

Let's see if I can help. I have a PDA phone and you appear to have a smartphone (as you call it a fone!). I believe that the basics are the same so what I am advising should be sound - but Paul will jump in if I am wrong.

-- Normally, programs are installed to your pda/phone via an initial installation on the PC. These files are identified with a file name and typically end in .exe or .msi
-- Files that are installed via the PC first will install (download) to your pda/smartphone when you run Microsoft Activesync (you cannot copy these type of files over - they MUST be installed via the routine that starts on the PC).
-- Programs can be installed directly on a PDA/Smartphone by using a .cab file (not all programs provide them but some are provided as options) which must first be copied to the device. This .cab file is then 'executed' by selecting in within a file browser.
-- The .Net framework MUST initially be installed via the PC by installing to the PC just like a normal PC program. Later, via activesync, the part that must be installed to the phone is copied over during synchronisation with your PC/laptop. After this process the pda/smartphone will ask you to confirm that you are hapy to instal and may ask where

As far as the memory card goes - it sounds like you need to format the card and start again with anything on there. Before you do so make sure that neither the phone nor the PC can actually read it. If you tried copying very large amounts of the .net installation files across then they may appear as "jibberish". However, if this is the case then your original Tom Tom folder with maps in (something like: GB_plus_major_roads_of_WE) should still be visable. If it is then be careful what you delete and try to delete only the wrong files and folders added. For Tom Tom you should have at least the following 4 folders:

- GB_plus_major_roads_of_WE (or similar for maps)
- LICENCES
- RASTER
- VOICES

Good luck and hope this helps.

Tony Wheeler

Hi there

Can anyone help me with the installation of this on my smartphone?

Got CameraAware installed by installing from the storage card but now i can't get the compact frame work installed as it says i don't have space.

Want to install it from the storage card but can't see the option to. Activesync "install to default location" box is greyed out.

Have tried to free up space in phone but still 1 mb short

Cheers

You should try locating the install CAB and copying that to the Storage Card before running it.

Sorry to be a pain, but will CamerAware run on a WM2003 phone (NOT smartphone) considering that you can (apparently) install .net CF 2.0 SP2 on it? I'm at work so I haven't tried this, but the microsoft website seems to suggest this....

.NET CF 2.0 SHOULD install on a 2003 SECOND EDITION Pocket PC.... see http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en

The follow platforms are suitable for use with MoDaCo CamerAware:

- Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC 320x240 (Portrait or Landscape)
- Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC 640x480 (Portrait or Landscape)
- Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC 240x240 (Square Screen)

- Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone 320x240 (Portrait or Landscape)
- Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone 176x220 (Portrait)

- Windows Mobile 2003 / SE Pocket PC 320x240 (Portrait or Landscape)

You will also need a Bluetooth, Cabled or Integrated GPS.

Please note that Smartphone devices prior to Windows Mobile 5 are NOT supported, as they are unable to run version 2.0 SP1 of the .net Compact Framework, on which CamerAware is built.

If you're not sure if your device will run CamerAware, feel free to reply to this topic and we'll let you know!

Just got it today and trying to get all the appropriate software installed, it is not as featured as my IPAQ 6915 but it is more compact.

Thanks for your help, I will install and take it from there.

Hi Paul,

I really like this site, however I am not TOO good with WM6 & my new HTC TyTnii yet.

I installed CamerAware, and every time it runs it tells me to "Reset your device", so I do and we loop...
Phone runs on Windows Mobile 6
I have installed .Net 2.0 (and it won't as I have a newer version on the phone)
I have installed GPStest and I get a signal now (after having to do the Hard reset to get internal GPS working)

Any ideas - is it working on your HTC Kaiser (same phone I think)?

Hi Andy!

First things first, we're about to release the Kaiser optimised version, but in the meantime it is in Beta here:

http://www.modaco.com/content/Beta-Testing...19-RC1-FullIn-/

Not sure what the 'reset your device' prompt is though anyway?

I think it is in relation to the GPS Setings (looks the same as when you've played with those) But a reset makes no difference.
GPS test is working well, quite a strong signal too smile.gif

Oddness!

You could try deleting the CamerAware registry key from HKCU\Software using PHM Regedit, Resco Explorer or similar?
