How does the voicedial feature work? Do you have to train each contact like the T-Mobile Dash or SDA, or does it have a smart voice recognition program? It's the usual Cyberon voice dial function, so yes, you have to train each contact. How does it compare to a T-mobile Dash/S620 as far as size is concerned? Is it as thin or much thicker? Excalibur - 12.8mm thick, Artemis - 16.3mm thick How long does it take to aquire a GPS signal? This varies of course, but with the 'QuickGPS' feature and the excellent SiRF III chipset, it performs very well indeed. How loud is the built in speaker for GPS or phone calls? It's quite loud Have you tried Skype on it? No... How's the camera picture quality? Typically HTC... i.e. pretty average How easy is it to make a phone call while driving? Using which method? I guess voice recognition is your best bet... it's not particularly easy I suppose. -------------------- If you'd like to support MoDaCo, please consider signing up for a MoDaCo Ad Free or a MoDaCo Plus account - now accepting Google Checkout!

Is that the Premium version with full Tom Tom, or the taster version? The premium version costs a lot more, but I heard it was partly because they have to supply a 2gb MicroSD card for the maps. Is this the case?
Oh, and does the GPS keep a signal when it's in your pocket, or does it generally need line of sight? Thanks! This post has been edited by andyturner: Nov 1 2006, 11:36 |

The version I have is a taster version I think.
Yes, it keeps GPS signal in my pocket. P |

What do we think the prospects are of O2 releasing this in the UK? I know they have now cut their links with HTC, but as they (O2) have already announced this in Germany, does this mean they could still bring it out in the UK?

Silly question I know but......
Could you still pair this with a bluetooth GPS reciever for navigation? The reason I ask is I use my JAMin for off road biking and I doubt the inbuilt GPS would give a battery life time of much more than a few hours. I get upto 6 or 7 hours with the JAMin. Ta |

I already have Tomtom 6 on my Wizard - if I was to upgrade to this phone, do you know if I would be able to go for the "taster" version as opposed to the "premium" version and use the maps I've already got?

Paul,
What do you have to say about the processor? I have read on GPSpassion that the processor is really sluggish after installing just a few applications. They say that its also sluggish when calculating routes; do you agree? What has been your experience as far as the processor is concerned? |

My experience hasn't been that... I have all my usual applications installed, and it's performing as i'd expect.

When you said that its working as you'd expected, do you mean "Its about as much as an OMAP 200 Mhz can do" or do you mean "I thought it would stink but is definitely better" ?
Thanks for the prompt responses, highly appreciated! Cheers. |

Well, i've never had any problems with the OMAP 200MHz in my usage scenarios TBH, so it's working like it always does - fine for me!

Yeah, it has an FM radio. It's OK, it has RDS, but it 'stutters' when system sounds such as clicking a menu occur. If you turn those off, it's fine.
Will this be replacing my Vario II? Not a chance! P |

Hmmm, i have held down the purchase mainly because of what i have read on different forums. You also mentioned that your review isn't exactly complimenting the device...
When's the review gonna be up? |
