Yes its the rapidshare link in wiki, its really simple, i was also really afraid of turning my phone into a brick, first u install the modem givin with XXGD1, then u turn off ur phone and plug it in, ( make sure u turned off ActiveSync (CTRL+ALT+DEL, then kill WCESCOMM.EXE process)) then u open the uploader, turn on ur phone in downloader mode ( power+RSK+other RSK) once the phone is ready, click start!
For the WM6, just follw panateo's instructions and i think all the links are for the same file, but i installed it without a prob whatsoever |

Just downloaded and installed WM6 office - can view and edit .doc .ppt .xls (tried only word so far) Why it was excluded from Samsung update? not for it's size, I'm sure... it's only 6mb !
Readme file says it was stripped from original WM6 installation and works on WM5 also. Search for it in torrentspy.com. BTW I've installed it not even knowing my phone was locked, worked like a charm |

How to make proper upgrade my i600 device to WM6Standard
What you need to know before start: - update won't work in Windows Vista (boot loader can't find files) - for some case samsung modem driver should be instaled before upgrading from earlier versions - phone must be charged to full (3 bars) - eject miniSD card. - get write S/N phone - don't unplug phone while upgrading - don't try to upgrade i607 with i600 roms - do it on your own risk 1) First, you need to upgrade i600 to XXGD1 version - download XXGD1 update, unpack file i600XXGD1_REV15.exe - if it's your first upgrade, you should install samsung modem driver - connect usb cable to PC, ActiveSync must find device, - go to options and disable: usb connection - turn off device "power off" - turn on to boot mode by hold 3 keys shown on picture below  - run i600XXGD1_REV15.exe and press start button to start upgrading  - wait till end after time counting digits (about 5min) 2) Settings to upgrade i600 do WM6 I. Downloading WM6 upgrade - go to page: http://www.samsungmobile.com/promotion/i600/index.jsp - chose for example Sweden - type serial number: i600XXGD1 - next fill registry form, with proper S/N number (remember to type it in capital letters). That was an amazing summary.
the other option is simply to wait a few weeks for your country flag to be active on the samsung website. I imagine Samsung are controlling the demand on their servers. I personally will wait for the UK flag. My phone works perfectly at the moment and the improvement in html email and pims in the only bit I look forward too. After entering the bootmode while upgrading to XXGD1 what next to do. I think you have skipped the procedure fully. Also there is a modem driver which comes with the XXGD1 package. WHat shoulkd we do with it. Thanks. |
