Step 2 is to create a folder on your PC and download the software.
If the command prompt closes again immediately the shortcut is probably not correct - try Start, Run, cmd.exe

At first i thought i am the only 1 with the same problem.. I mean stuck at typing "pdocread -l"

Wat i have done.

1- download both of the software..
2- cut the cab perparation to my htc touch and install it successful !
3-create folder and extract (http://nah6.com/~itsme/itsutilsbin-20070323.zip (Kudos to Willem Jan Hengeveld (aka itsme) for this excellent toolkit!) to a new folder name pagepool

The problem start here:

qouted from paul
________________________________________________________________________________
_______________________________
Step 3: Extract the ROM from your device

We're now going to extract the ROM from your device. This is a completely safe operation, so don't panic yet biggrin.gif Take the following steps...

I- Ensure device is connected to PC and Activesync'd / WMDC'd
II- Open a command prompt at your new directory
III- Type 'pdocread -l' (minus the quotes of course)
________________________________________________________________________________
_______________________________

Here is goes

I- check the sync connection is connected with no problem" done"
II- try using press: windows+R >then type> cmd/cmd.exe.. i even try creating a shortcut command prompt at the directory pagepool..
III_ try typing pdocread -l (it show after i type is " unregconised internal or external command"

THere is where i am stuck.. hope someone could help me or share some info i miss out for those who succeed in doing it..

Paul guide is quite detail in explaination but for a newbie in computer like me really hard for me to understand well..

If there is any step i miss hope anyone out there could help.

Sorry admin for bring out the topic again.. biggrin.gif thx.. coz 1st topic 22 june 2007 tongue.gif

regards
kelvin

I'm not sure, but I think you are still having problems.
Could you put a question mark (?) after questions, so we can tell what you want answers to.

If you are getting "unregconised internal or external command" then Windows can't find pdocread.exe

I created a folder called Touch (on my machine it is D:\Touch) and put Itsme's ZIP file in it, so now I have D:\Touch\itsutilsbin-20070323.zip
Then I extracted that ZIP file to D:\Touch\Pagepool
Then I ran D:\Touch\Pagepool\pdocread.exe -l

It sounds like you just need open a command prompt, then to go to the folder that holds pdocread.exe (CD D:\Touch\Pagepool in my case, yours may be different) before you run pdocread

ERROR: unable to open host/destination file -the system cannot find file specified

Q:WHy is the message shown?anyone have this problem b4?

In step 4 :After locating your current pagepool value, update it to one of those shown above by selecting the value and overtyping

Q:how to update and selecting value? i just press safe as then just change the name.

Q:i notice something i i safe i got 1 file with part02 and another with part02.8mb.dump

HOPE SomE 1 could help.. did i miss something again!! so frustrating almost done but failed huh.gif pLEASE GIVE COMMENT thx

guys out there with the same problem i should briefly explain..

Why u stuck when typing "pdocread -l" ?
coz the location of the file is incorrect just.So just open the folder u save the "ITSUTILS_Preperation"..
then just type the above address in command prompt and add "procread -L" etc : "d:documentsandsetting\pagepool\pdocread -l"

how to open command prompt at new directory?
start /allprogram /accessories /command prompt..
u could drag it to the new directory and use it there or a more simple way is to press start and then run..type cmd.. done u in black screen..
just ignore the word open new command prompt at new directory..

then others u should follow paul guide

Sorry for the broken english!! rolleyes.gif

Thank you Paul for saving me a whole lot of frustration...I just followed your directions and they worked excellently. I was curious though, i changed the page pool size to 4mb on my wing. What gives a higher amount of MB for the program usage, changing it to 4mb or 6mb??

Hey Paul,
Thank you very much for the simple instructions. My question is if i "clear storage" after succesfully changing the pagepool settings to 6mb, will the settings still be in-place??? Or will i have to re-do the entire "itsuils" preperation and all that again. Thanky you once again for the instructions and the use of your site.

Unfortunately it looks like i've bicked my phone sad.gif

I obviously was trying this too early on a sunday morning!

After pressing the soft reset the device will not turn on or respond to the USB connection (no orange charge LED).

I'm at a bit of a loss and not sure if this is recoverable before last resort of sending to get it fixed. I have searched around Modaco and XDA and haven't seen anything specific.

Any thoughts?

JT

EDIT: Just realised how to hard reset my phone...at least it powers on but just to the Orange boot screen.

I had previously flashed to the Blue_Elves_v5_WM6.1 ROM.....I just tried to flash to this ROM again but as Activesync won't connect to the device not sure how to do it?? THe boatloader shows the USB connection.

Thanks for your time Confucious

Activesync does not need to connect to flash. So long as you have the bootloader it should work.
I am no expert on flashing (I've done it lots of times but really don't know - I rely on the guys at xda-devs if anything goes wrong). Trying to flash again won't do any harm but if it doesn't work the xda-devs is where all the experts on flashing are. I'm sure they will be able to help.

Good luck!

Why? I don't think I'd ever flash an original ROM when there are so many better ones out there. Which ROM you flash shouldn't make a difference to your problem.
