Although I admire the effort here, this app has some problems. First off, there are no color options for the GPS or WiFI on the right side LED. In fact, it turns both OFF with no way to turn them back on other then uninstalling and rebooting. Secondly, when charging, there is no longer any indication of a solid LED nor does it turn green (or whatever color) when fully charged. These two things are fairly major omissions. Not to mention the amber color problem noted above. The shortcut also doesn't show up under "Programs", just on the start menu, which is strange.

Hopefully these issues can be addressed. It's almost still worth installing since I REALLY want that missed phone call left LED notification to be RED - amber is just to close to green. But still too many issues to keep this one installed.

Hi

Thank you for your feedback.

Just to answer/respond to your concerns:

QUOTE
First off, there are no color options for the GPS or WiFI on the right side LED. In fact, it turns both OFF with no way to turn them back on other then uninstalling and rebooting.

Wi-Fi and GPS indicators are delibrately missing as in my opinion these are pointless (and I wrote the program for my own benefit first and foremost biggrin.gif ). Wi-Fi only works when the device is on so you can see the status of Wi-Fi while looking at the screen, and you know GPS is on from most navigation programs and by the fact it is working or not in those programs, so why bother flashing LEDs? I would think that while driving the flashing LED is a distraction anyway so I'm not sure what HTC were thinking.

By removing Wi-Fi and GPS indicators means the right LED can be used for Email and SMS notifications, making these more noticable.

QUOTE
Secondly, when charging, there is no longer any indication of a solid LED nor does it turn green (or whatever color) when fully charged.

The missing static charging indicators are listed in the description as a known issue. The reason they are missing is I have found no method of controlling the LEDs to light static. Charging indicators are on the screen when the device is on anyway and charging so I personally haven't found this a problem.

QUOTE
The shortcut also doesn't show up under "Programs", just on the start menu, which is strange.

I think this has been mentioned before however when I install it I always get a program icon under 'Programs' as expected. When I do another version I will check what the cab install is doing.

I agree entirely, the biggest omission I think is how on earth HTC decided on these indicators in the first place, then to fix them so they could not be changed by the end user, unless resorting to some other program such as mine.

Regards

Phil

Hi

It wasn't written for the HTC SmartPhone in mind, you could try it, if it installs it might work.

Phil,
Very nice app - I have the AT&T Tilt and the Amber light does not work. I am wondering if you had a chance to look at it anymore more.

Thank you for your time and help!

Phil,
Apart from the issues, one use I get out of this app is the missed call notification - even if it's green and not amber or red.
If you are able to work out the discussed kinks, this would be great app.
Appreciate the effort.

Phil,
Is there a way to make the LED blink faster than 3 secs? To me coming from a Treo world, it's easier than trying to figure out the colour schemes.

Thanks

this app looks awesome and i think i will use it in the future but for now there are too many bugs. it will be useful to have an app that flashes/vibrates/sounds when i have a missed call/text message/email biggrin.gif

Hi are you still developing this program? I really needed something like this but I have a couple problems with it:

1) I know you said it's a known issue, but not having the LED indicate the charging status is annoying to me. Yeah you can see it on the screen, but the whole purpose of the LED is to give a visual indication without turning your phone on.

2) I love the red blinking light for when I have missed phone calls...however I need this for SMS too! The only real option in your program for SMS is the blue light which blinks twice as slowly as the green one. I had originally been looking for a way to make it blink twice as FAST! If it is somehow possible to make the red light available for missed calls AND SMS this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi

I don't have the code to make it stay on permanently on the Kaiser, and if it did that would reduce the standby time quite a lot as it's an extra drain on the battery.

Just downloaded your program and have not even installed it yet but it looks good. I wanted to offer an idea on the amber thing. First off, I am an electronics technician, not a programmer so I have no idea how to implement this, it is just something for you to consider. Most tri-state LEDs have only two colors, red and green; the third color, amber, is produced by rapidly switching between the green and red LEDs. Latency in the diodes and the human eye make the color appear amber if the switching occurs rapidly enough.

Hi Phil_UK

WHAT A GREAT APP!!! I love it... but:

What about changing the logic for the LED settings. The idea is, that eg. I would like to be able to have to blue LED assigned to bluetooth on/off, so I thought, why not have the LED colours as a fixed value and in the drop downs the possible phone functions to assign. Eg. you would have a title "Blue:" (for the blue LED apparently) and in the drop down you would have the options of Phone, Bluetooth, Missed Calls, Unread SMS/MMS, Unread Emails, and so on. I think this would give the user a lot more flexibility. At least I would appreciate that quite much.

Would be nice if you at least consider this for a next release. Maybe to have it as an option chosen by the user: either assignments as it is now or as I proposed above...

Thanks a lot for this great piece of software

Thanks for the tip, unfortunately the Kaiser doesn't work that way as I don't flash the LED by sending On and Off commands, I just send an On command and the Qualcomm chip flashes the LED until it gets an Off command or a command to flash another colour. I can not find out how to flash it amber, no combination works, and don't have the information on how to reprogram the flash rates. HTC are not being very helpful as I can't get past first line support and silly questions.

Thank you for your feedback. Yes other similar suggestions have been made. Due to the way each LED behaves (the left and right need different combinations of commands) it would get quite complicated in the code to achieve this. I'm going to have a go re-engineering the code to do it, but can't make any promises.

I installed this after installing and uninstalling LED Killer and I'm getting an error that reads "Cannot execute \Program Files\LED Killer\MortScript.exe" and then Kaiser stops working. If I go back into the setup and hit save, it works again.

Is MortScript something that Kaiser Notifications needs, or is there something leftover from LED Killer that's looking for MortScript?

Thanks!

The program doesn't use LED Killer at all or the MortScript.

Sounds like when LED Killer was uninstalled it's left something behind that is still trying to do something, and then finding it's missing the files.

Maybe try reinstalling the LED Killer app and then have a go uninstalling again.
