But even that might not be enough. Nobody's explained to me yet how they expect to do all this (hi-res display, HSDPA, 128MB RAM, GPS, WiFi) on 10% less battery than the BJ?

Well clearly you aren't going to be using all of them at the same time, but yes, 3G WinMo devices leave something to be desired in the standby time area :/

I don't really use the 3G or GPS (yet..probably will use the latter when I get round to buying a car!) so battery life isn't really much of an issue for me, I s'pose I'd get an in-car charger anyway for GPS and I charge every night too.

Reason why I like this is because I was looking for something with Kaiser-like specs (incl. QWERTY keyboard), but a lot smaller, I think this is probably as close as I can get!

You kind of miss my point - I'm talking about Samsungs not WM devices in general. All I want is a device that will get through a busy day without a charge. There are plenty of WM devices that will do this (especially if you turn off 3G). Samsungs are not one of them because they design their pphones for form (a.k.a. "style") over function by making them so thin. Samsungs have the worst reputation of all, which is why they're the only marque to supply 2 batteries as standard.
Standby is only one part of the picture - this is supposed to be a serious business tool not a toy, but what's the point of paying all that money for something you daren't use for fear of flattening the battery?
I'm intrigued how Samsung improving matters by putting more and more power sapping functions in the phone, whilst at the same time providing a smaller battery than previous models?

I've not used a ppc samsung, however on 2g the standby on the i620 standard device was just about acceptable. I agree with your point, but I think it does go for most winmo manufacturers though - standby is something that will seriously need to be looked at.

Hopefully the end product in this case will move to improve on that...

Yeah I think so.

I've been rung up by Orange about an upgrade, I hope it's available soon!

Did I also mention it's SMALL?

Kaiser: height 112mm, width 59mm, depth 12mm, weight 190g (with standard battery)

Samsung: height 115mm; width 61.9mm; depth 11.8mm ; weight 120 g

So its lighter but other wise the same size but with smaller screen and smaller keyboard and wlan"b" only.

Seems that the processor is probably the only step forward.

The Kaiser is not 12mm thick, it's around 18-19mm thick. The Samsung is a lot thinner.

I got an e-mail back from Orange today apparently they're in stock tomorrow! Also where did you read that it's only b? I've read that it's b/g but I might be wrong..

I'm on the business contract my Dad has so we constantly get bugged about upgrades when the time comes. I'm pretty sure they still do 12 month contracts; we're on one.
