I found a bug
With only AppToDate installed, if I run it, wait for it to dowload and check it's version, then look at the enlarged info screen and return, the "Download" button (right soft key) is no longer greyed out. Pushing it gives me an error about there being nothing to download and install... -------------------- |

I'll fix that for the next ver, well spotted ;) P I've found another issue! I cooked in A2D and the Donate program you released sometime ago, but when A2D loads (with the donate.xml file in the Application Data\AppToDate folder) it says .NET CF 3.5 is not installed. It is, I cooked it in, and A2D has no problems reading the ROM xml, or YouTubePlays xml file, so I'm lost for ideas... -------------------- |

That's odd, because ATD doesn't need CF3.5, it is CF2 based so should work on anything with CF2 or above.
Sure you're not missing a DLL? What's the exact error? P -------------------- Paul O'Brien - Microsoft MVP, Mobile Devices, MoDaCo.network Founder. Check out my Blog! £10 off a £20 spend at eXpansys - click for details |

P I've discovered ATD throws the same error (I haven't written it down anywhere and my prophets flashing ATM) saying I need to install .NET CF 3.5 CAB no matter what error it is. If I close the internet connection, it throws the error, and if the xml is mal formed (as it was it appears) it throws the same error. I have all the correct dlls, and I even reinstalled them on a clean, WM5 ROM but the errors still came... -------------------- |

Ahhhh, is it saying you need to install the CAB to show messages?
That is, it's crashing out and can't tell you why because you don't have the CF 3.5 messages CAB installed? P -------------------- Paul O'Brien - Microsoft MVP, Mobile Devices, MoDaCo.network Founder. Check out my Blog! £10 off a £20 spend at eXpansys - click for details |

The donate xml from the OEM package reads:
CODE <?xml version="1.0"?> <doc> <assembly> <name> Donate </name> </assembly> <members> <member name="P:MoDaCo.My.Resources.Resources.ResourceManager"> <summary> Returns the cached ResourceManager instance used by this class. </summary> </member><member name="P:MoDaCo.My.Resources.Resources.Culture"> <summary> Overrides the current thread's CurrentUICulture property for all resource lookups using this strongly typed resource class. </summary> </member><member name="T:MoDaCo.My.Resources.Resources"> <summary> A strongly-typed resource class, for looking up localized strings, etc. </summary> </member> </members> </doc> This may be in Russian (I have a russian exam next week), but it is the "messages" cab that's not there. Looking at the more detailed error report, it's caused by reading the XML file... This post has been edited by l3v5y: May 16 2008, 08:38

Hi. I have one (maybe) bug. When i changed names of my scripts to SCRIPTED: name, I get only part of full name in PPC ATD. For example in XML is SCRIPTED: Vito EyePhoto and i see only SCRIPTED: Vito. But I can have SCRIPTED: abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz (not so much tested) and I will see it completely. Is possible to do something with it?
First I changed name to SCRIPTED, if I change it to "S: name", can you delete "SCRIPTED..." items from stats? And last, how to make announcement (with XML) in ATD? I saw it on one screenshot. Thx Paul //first issue: I tested it again and it's another - When I have SCRIPTED: abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz I see only SCRIPTED:, when I have SCRIPTED: abcd I see all, when I have abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz I see nothing. Please can you do something with it? This post has been edited by IkE Blaster: May 16 2008, 22:26 |

So the messages CAB isn't the actual error, that is it saying it can't SHOW you the error without you installing that CAB.

I would install the required CAB, but my phones drying out, I can't find a cab, and I have exams this week! -------------------- |

Another bug
If there are xmls of the same name (even if one is specified via registry) ATD gives up and dies...

Thanks! P Now, I have a feature request! Is there anyway a "Refresh" button/function could be implemented? It would be handy for testing, and also make it faster to check for updates... I also have a slight issue! If the XML file is longer than one page, the scrolling does not function... Not brilliant if I include a change log in the XML. Refresh - I had planned this anyway, so no problem at all, i'll add that to the options menu.
re: the scrolling, in that instance you'd want to view the full page description - i'll double check to ensure scrollbars work too! P -------------------- Paul O'Brien - Microsoft MVP, Mobile Devices, MoDaCo.network Founder. Check out my Blog! £10 off a £20 spend at eXpansys - click for details |

I'm getting ready to add AppToDate support for my 2nd app, and noticed a couple bugs when playing with version 2.08.04.28:

Hi Paul, good idea with ATD and very nice job I think it's my first post here on Modaco forum, but I've been reading a few stuff here and there. I just tried ATD and I have bugs to report and suggestions to do ! if you click Cancel while it's "Checking for N updates" it gets to 100% complete (presumably skipping the actual checks) but then the hour-glass icon doesn't go away. Ever. Needs a soft reset I have a similar problem on my device (O2 xda flame - wm6.1), if there is no connection when ATD is launched, it will trigger the connection, which is fine. But once it's established, ATD keeps staying at 0% completed (I've wait like 1 minute), and pressing cancel at that time will bring that hour-glass bug, but even worse since the update won't be cancelled. Then you gotta soft reset.. I've also experienced the same thing once, while the connection was already established.... strange ! Now the feature requests I did some tests using unsupported apps and custom xml. Since the xml is not included in the cab file, it is never updated on the device and ATD will want to re-update each time it's launched. Could you please add xml updating within ATD ? (optionnaly) An option to schedule updates, as in pimbackup, would be very cool. Along with "automatic upgrade" and "turn off/reboot after upgrade" options, but then you'll have to program a daemon to simulate user interaction when WM asks for install location, or ask to reboot, an |
