Not a bad device. Does not really stand out for me, but for something again, portable, compact and good "on the go", I guess you cannot go too wrong, if you can get this at a good price !

QUOTE(hekermeker @ May 24 2008, 14:12) Hello!
I heared about a network problem with 614c.When the network mode is set to automatic it works on both modes 3G and normal mode. When there is no 3G coverage you have no signal at all and you have to switch manually in normal mode.It is true?Have you experienced this?

I've had mine for about a 2 months now and it's only happened once or possibly twice... as it doesn't happen too much, I can't pinpoint when it happens, but I travel a lot, so move from GPRS/3G/HSDPA regularly, and it doesn't happen every time...

Phone is good... not really got any problems with it... it's the first time I've had a smartphone... so don't really have anything to compare it to....

I would say that I'm using it with SPB menu at the moment, and it looks awesome... Not as fast as I thought it would be... but it's still good!

I'd definitely recommend the phone...

Ok, thanks.Maybe not the phone is the problem, but the country I live in.Here in Romania you have signal problems even in the big cities. And 3G signal is very weak.Anyway Orange sucks!!!If Asus P750 had 128 Ram...

I could take some when I come home (don't have acess to the phone currently). Is there any specific pictures you want?

Here's a few examples of the 614c's camera:

Attached File  Image_00012.jpg ( 688.19K ) Number of downloads: 39

Outdoors, Daylight, No Flash

Attached File  Image_00013.jpg ( 688.45K ) Number of downloads: 29

Outdoors, Daylight, No Flash

Attached File  Image_00019.jpg ( 378.03K ) Number of downloads: 32

Indoors, Daylight, No Flash

Attached File  Image_00029.jpg ( 1.24MB ) Number of downloads: 34

Indoors, Low Light, With Flash

As you can see, the camera is perfectly serviceable outdoors in daylight. As with almost every WinMo device though, the camera shows it's weakness indoors and mainly in poor light. The closeup of the parrot was taken in daylight without flash indoors and while it isn't bad, it's not great either. It really starts to fall down when using the flash which, as normal for WinMo, is a simple LED flash. Some day these WinMo cameras will be sorted out and become a match for the Nokia N-Series and SonyEricsson Cybershot phones. When they do (and WinMo 7 is out) the devices will be unbeatable!

Thanks Paul,

It uses WM6, not 6.1. I wonder the performance and battery life of this device. huh.gif

everton2004, thanks for the pictures.
I can't believe the quality is so poor for a 3.2Mpix cam.

That's always been the trade-off of having a WinMo device - having a sub-standard camera!

As for performance, it's pretty fast and the 256Mb ROM and 128Mb RAM means there's plenty of RAM for running multiple applications and enough space to install your critical applications to the internal storage.

Battery life is about average for a Pocket PC device. Under light use I've had just over two days before it started complaining of a low battery. Under heavy use (Wifi and HSDPA usage, phone calls, texts etc) it'll last less than a day. I've not noticed much difference between this device and my old Hermes (Vario II).

And just another thought - I think the issue of quality may be related to JPEG 'over compression'. Look at the file sizes - they're quite small for 3.2Mpix. Perhaps HP may do something about this in one of their updates (fingers crossed).

Paul,

I am using my Ipaq 614c with push e-mail, whenever I am having phonecalls that last for more then 15 minutes they are cancelled by the Ipaq to retreive mail... huh.gif
Is there anyway to set priorities for the services so that my phonecalls are not interrupted anymore?

Hi,

Depends on what software you're using. VisualGPSce sees up to 16 satellites (11 when inside my truck) and TT6 sees about 12 (8 inside).
My opinion on the HP : http://www.modaco.com/content-page/261287/...aq-610/page/20/ post nr 26 tongue.gif

Cheers,

That shouldn't happen, voice should always take priority. Oddness!

The HP is worse than most other WM phones - simply because of that horrendous pink tinted stripe which seems to plague them all. Unless you're on drugs, who wants all their skies coloured purple?
