I just wanted to confirm in this thread that the TV out cable for a U900 works on an i900.

Got mine delivered yesterday... wasn't totally blown away with the quality to be honest.

I hooked it up to a 50 inch plasma TV and it basically looks just like it really should... QVGA lol.

I havent played with any settings yet...

Is quality any different if you use "tv out viewer" application?

Well... i just tried using the tv out viewer app...

not good... it doesnt seem to open any type of file at all!!! I cant therefore tell you whether the quality is any better or not.

Im not sure if its because im using a cable made for the u900 or not... but the quality of the tv display is pretty poor overall.

Try it with Word, Excel, Powerpoint files or even pdf files

I tried it before by using Tv out viewer with those files the resolution is exceptional. The resolution is much better on TV out viewer.
Also, with videos ... try them on Touch Player

I received one, and I'm very disappointed.
The main problem is the chipset will only output at i900's resolution, instead of a most suited one for TV's.
The result is very poor, so that you can't display pictures or movies with a decent quality (looks pretty much the same as a bad VHS video)

That's a shame, especially since I intended to use this A LOT, as an addition to my portable video-projector sad.gif

Your experience doesn't appear to be the same as others -

well, if you find that youtube quality is enough to watch movies on a big tv, then you'll be good with omnia's tv-out, sure smile.gif

lastnikita has a point here. How can you see if movie on TV screen is of decent quality, if all you have is this youtube flick that is of horrible quality itself? smile.gif

I think only Omnia-specific apps like TV out player and Touch Player can specifically utilize TV output to output higher res signal.
Everything else will just be displayed "as is on screen", at 400x240 scaled max.

I will try using touch player for movies and tv out viewer for word, excel etc tonight.... see if the quality is any better.

Problem is, Touch Player doesnt support that many codecs.
