OK, i dont want to be funny here, but I just feel like i must say...
Is this REALY an issue??? Is this slight decrease in volume on your ring tone realy hampering your experience with your phone that you are actually unsatisfied? I actually dont mind it. At all. It is such a SMALL detail that it doesnt actually bug me, and that I can live with it. I think its meant to give you a little pre-warn before the phone kicks in full volume - which can be argued as understandable. And I feel that all the people that can sit here and complain about such a relatively small issue, can find the time to solve the issue themselves. Either by making the first couple of your seconds louder than the rest, so it balances out, or even cut the first few seconds out completely, leaving the begining blank, so when it does start, it starts full volume. Those are my solutions. Hope some of you can be constructive and find your own solutions.. Or wait until someone finds the registry hack and announces how to change the delay. But all this complaining is not constructive and is driving me insane.... [end of my 2c] |

Or wait until someone finds the registry hack and announces how to change the delay. This is a discussion. If you are happy with the way the phone works in this regard then fine but this thread is for people who are trying to find ways around it. Discussion is the best way to share ideas and findings but also good to just vent frustration. People ARE trying to resolve the problem but not everyone is technically skilled enough to find the solution or even know how to try so they come here to see if there is a more skilled person who has managed it. And be sensible, it hardly takes the same amount of time to post a comment in here as it does to resolve a problem like this in software?! But all this complaining is not constructive and is driving me insane.... If it's "driving you insane" why are you even reading this thread?! the thing was frustrating me here (if people can get frustrated about the software, can people get frustrated about the users?) is that people are offering solutions, but it seems like its not good enough people, and so they keep on complaining.
Like I said, if there was some sort communial desire to fix the 'problems or issues' then great, I support that, but when comments are made 'trash talking' the phone just because no solution works best for them, it gets a bit much. The reason im reading this thread is because im extremely keen on the improvements people are making here regarding software tweaking and hacks, etc. and while i have seen this topic being an 'issue' before, im interested to see if some software guru out there has found a solution yet to make the people who are annoyed by it happy. Like for instance, im waiting patiently for some techie to improve on the soft 'send' button during typing messages, as i have often sent half messages. But till the solution has been found, im not going to spend my time bashing the phone, comparing it to others, but spend that time constructively doing more research around the net and in other forums to see if some one else out there has found the solution, and the share it here. Like I said, my 2c. Just want to see people WORKING together, than a collection of people who whine because no solutions people offer are good enough for them... First of all i have searched for this issue on every possible omnia forum. And until now i never find a fix for it. Personally i hate increasing ringtones i dont know why but i hate them a lot. I want a clean song from start to end. It's funny that all WM phones use a registry value called Ringtone Script that desribes how the ringtone rings, vibrates, flashesh the lights sequences of lighting and vibrateing and so on. The thing is that omnia doesnt use this registry key even if you change it it will be the same. And after all even if you like a real increasing ringtone on omnia i couldnt get it to work. So according to me this must have been implemeneted or maybe hardcoded somewhere in the rom, and that's why i asked if there is any official forum or customer support where we can address this issue, and wait for samsung to release a patch for it.

All of the Samsung phones I've had have worked the same. Works okay for me. I just need the phone to make a noise loud enough so that I know I am getting a call. Most of the time I see the call before I hear it as it normally is sitting in front of me on the desk. Don't need fancy musical scores etc... just a ring which is what I use "Classic Bell". Classic Bell. Me too. It's the only ringtone loud enough to be sure I hear it under all circumstances. For example, I have a convertible, and any fancy ringtone, like some tune, is completely lost in the noise. Classic Bell is the loudest, most distinct but psychologically recognizable "it's a phone!" ringtone on the device. The only problem I had with it at first was that it sounds so perfect as an old classic telephone that my mind assumed it was a phone ringing in one of the mall stores as I was walking around with my new Omnia. Got over that pretty quickly :-) |

Also, remember that any MP3 can be your ringtone, so try freesound.org or something to find a good loud and recognisable tone. |
