Welcome to the home of SGAP (Smart Globe Amazing Phone)

:idea: Questions about downgrading, unlocking, gprs/mms configuring, upgrading and running Globe Telecoms in your Tanager in a nutshell.

Please be forwarned Flashing your phone's ROM is very risky, it might render your unit useless. Don't blame me if your phone suddenly breaks down, or your battery dies out, or your cat was runned over by a semi. Everything here is just for information and if your phone is running fine DONT thinker with it and just leave it alone. I'm also doing this forum, so that you don't have to go to greenhill or whereever, and pay more than you should just to openline your phone. Hope this all get to you and give those "Buhaya's" a run for their money.

WHICH WILL SIMLOCK YOUR PHONE)
- SPVUNLOCK (http://www.monolithix.org)
- USB CRADLE/CABLE SYNC WITH ATTACHED CHARGER

STEP 1
BEGIN: (MAKING A BOOTLOADER IMAGE)

1. INSERT MMC TO YOUR PC CARDREADER
2. INSTALL WINHEX ON YOUR PC
3. CLICK ON BOOTLOADER OF YOUR PREFERENCE (BLVERSION.WHX) TO OPEN IT IN WINHEX
4. ONCE OPENED YOU WILL SEE THE FF: RESTORATION OF 13201 SECTORS
5. CLICK "WRITE SECTORS DIRECTLY AND IMMEDIATELY TO DISK"
6. CLICK DESTINATION DISK (CHANGE IT TO THE DRIVE OF YOUR MMC READER)
7. CLICK OK, WAIT UNTIL IT FINISHES. IT WILL PROMPT YOU OF A SUCCESSFULL TRANSFER
8. DISREGARD ERROR "CANNOT ACCESS DRIVE:? YOU DONT HAVE PREVILEDGE..."
9. REMOVE SD/MMC FROM READER AND INSERT IT IN YOUR SMARTPHONE

ALTERNATIVE METHOD:

1. YOU COULD TRY DOWNLOADING SOMEONE ELSES 0.98 BOOTLOADER IN YOU SD/MMC CARD VIA USBTERM RUNNED ON WINXP

STEP 2
BEGIN: (DOWNGRADING BOOTLOADER)
WARNING: THIS WILL ERASE EVERYTHING FROM YOUR SMARTPHONE

1. PLUG YOUR SMARTPHONE TO A CHARGER
2. PRESS RECORD AND ON UNTIL YOU SEE THE FOLLOWING: "CARD FOUND" AND AND IF YOU WANT TO LOAD THE BOOTLOADER.
3. PRESS THE ACTION BUTTON TO ACCEPT IT AND WAIT FOR IT TO FINISH. DONT TURN OFF THE PHONE
4. ONCE ITS DONE YOU WILL SEE "DOWNLOAD SUCCESS" THEN REMOVE THE BATTERIES FOR 15SECS.
5. REMOVE THE SD/MMC CARD FROM YOUR SMARTPHONE
6. PRESS RECORD AND ON AT THE SAME TIME UNTIL IT SWITCHES ON
7. PRESS ANY KEY, AFTER THAT YOU SHOULD BE SEEING THREE COLORS AND THE NEW VERSION (BLVERSION.WHX) E.G. CANARY 0.98
8. PLACE THE SMARTPHONE ON YOUR USB CRADLE WITH POWER. REMOVE CONNECTION FROM PC

STEP 3
BEGIN: (GETTING UNLOCK CODE AND DOWNGRADING OS)
WARNING TURN ALL OTHER APPLICATIONS OFF AS WELL AS FOR THE SCREENSAVER AND POWER MANAGEMENT

1. INSTALL ACTIVE SYNC 3.7, AFTER INSTALLATION REBOOT PC.
2. AFTER REBOOT, CONNECT YOUR USB CONNECTION TO THE PC. THIS WILL BE DETECTED AS A NEW
DEVICE "HTC HUB SYNC"
3. PRESS CTRL-ALT-DEL ON YOUR PC (END THE TASK OF "WSECOMM.EXE" FROM THE LIST)
4. RUN SPVUNLOCK.EXE AND COPY THE UNLOCK CODE
5. RUN ORANGE UK 1.35 ROM UPDATE
6. IT SHOULD STATE THAT IT WOULD UPDATE THE ROM VERSION __ TO 1.35 PRESS ACCEPT
7. DONT DO ANYTHING ON THE PHONE OR ON YOUR PC, LET IT FINISH AND IT WILL TAKE AROUND
15MINS. YOU SHOULD SEE THE SAME STATUS ON YOUR SMARTPHONE. STEP 1 AND STEP 2.
8. WAIT FOR IT TO FINISH. AFTER THAT TAKE OFF THE BATTERY FOR 15 SECONDS THEN INSERT IT BACK

STEP 4
BEGIN: (Hard Reset - ERASING IPSM)

1. PRESS RECORD AND ON UNTIL YOU SEE THE BOOTLOADER OPTION
2. PRESS THE ACTION BAR AND DONT RELEASE UNTIL YOUR IN THE BOOTLOADER MENU
2A.IF YOU DIDNT DO THIS CORRECTLY YOUR WILL BE PLACED IN THE STRAP MODE 3 COLORS SCREEN
2B.TURN OFF PHONE REPEAT STEP 1 ELSE PROCEED TO STEP 3
3. SELECT OPTION "ERASE IPSM" THEN AFTER IT WILL SAY PASSED
4. AFTER THAT TAKE OFF THE BATTERY FOR 15 SECONDS THEN INSERT IT BACK

STEP 5
BEGIN: (UNLOCKING PHONE)

1. INSERT SIM CARD (SIM FROM OTHER NETWORK WITH PIN CODE CHECK DISABLED)
2. TURN ON PHONE, THIS WILL TAKE A MUCH LONGER TIME TO START DONT PRESS ANY KEY
3. WAIT FOR IT TO FINISH, AFTER THAT IT WILL RECREATE THE IPSM, WAIT FOR A PROMPT TO
CONTINUE AND IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY REBOOT THE SMARTPHONE
4. YOU WILL NOW ENTER THE UNLOCK CODE AND ALL OF YOUR PROGRAMS AND PHONE FEATURES
WILL BE WORKING, AND YOUR PHONE WILL BE SIM UN-LOCKED.

STEP 6
BEGIN: (UPGRADING PHONE)

1. RUN QTEK150 ROM UPDATE (WHICHEVER YOU NEED SMART/IMATE/ORANGE ROM UPGRADE)
2. IT SHOULD STATE THAT IT WOULD UPDATE THE ROM VERSION __ TO THE NEW VERSION PRESS ACCEPT
3. DONT DO ANYTHING ON THE PHONE OR ON YOUR PC, LET IT FINISH AND IT WILL TAKE AROUND
15MINS. YOU SHOULD SEE THE SAME STATUS ON YOUR SMARTPHONE. STEP 1 AND STEP 2.
4. WAIT FOR IT TO FINISH. AFTER THAT TAKE OFF THE BATTERY FOR 15 SECONDS THEN INSERT IT BACK
5. DO STEP 4
6. TURN ON PHONE, THIS WILL TAKE A MUCH LONGER TIME TO START DONT PRESS ANY KEY
7. WAIT FOR IT TO FINISH, AFTER THAT IT WILL RECREATE THE IPSM, WAIT FOR A PROMPT TO
CONTINUE AND IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY REBOOT THE SMARTPHONE
8. YOUR SMARTPHONE IS NOW OPENLINE OR SIMFREE, WITH AN UPDATE ROM YOUR BATTERIES WILL LAST
LONGER AND THE APPLICATIONS ARE MUCH FASTER.

New Unlock Method:

Just Upgrade or downgrade depending on your model, to the Orange Uk 1.61 ROM Update and use SPVUnlock2 to SIM Free your phone.

(MMS/GPRS/WAP CONFIGURATION)

Globe Network in Philippines (you could surf on Myglobe and links for free
just use the Free GPRS connection. If you want to browse outside of
MyGlobe use the Pay GPRS connection.)

Make sure that Globe has setup MMS on your account.
If not just type in your Smartphone SMS:
GO N7650
and send it to 2951 - This will enable you to receive MMS
dont mind the N7650 it will work for your smartphone.

Globe contract (PostPaid)

Create proxy connection
Description: Globe WAP proxy
Connects from: The Internet
Connects to: WAP network
Proxy (name:port): 203.177.42.214 (GPRS WAP) or
192.9.163.34
(CSD WAP)
Type: WAP

Create GPRS connection. (this is the Pay GPRS)
Description: Globe GPRS
Connects to: The Internet

Create GPRS connection. (this is the free GPRS)

Menu - Edit connections - Proxy Connections
Menu - Add

In data connections
Make 'WAP Connection=Globe WAP' in data connections.

Internet Explorer
Menu - Options - Connections
Untick 'auto detect' and make 'Select Network = WAP
Network'.

Try and access wsp://www.globe.com.ph/globe.wmlc and
from there just save your favorites

Orange 1.61 Application Unlock

There's three ways around this:

I. The Easiest way

Setup your phone to use passthrough internet connection
- in Data Connections Internet is set to passthrough
Get your IMEI number (*#06# and write it down)

Browse to this site with your phone (Not in GPRS mode but with Pass-through Connection with your PC's internet connection):
http://developer.orangews.com/orgspv/comdef.aspx

Answer everything select Unlock, then wait for a SMS like action from your phone, it would then state that its already Application Unlocked.

II. No Warez - Havent tried this one though but it sounds easy (btw, No Warez.exe and all AE*.* are included in the Orange Update on the Windows directory of the phone)

III. Most Invasive - Direct ROM Patching (For 1.61 Orange UK Update only) download Removed - sorry! <- still asking for permission if they will allow me to repost the patch.

For those who are switching to a Globe Telecom's Sim Card, I have created a registry Patch so that migrating from Smart to Globe would be seamless. You would need RESCO Explorer 2003 to import the settings though. You could get the trial version here,

After Installing, run Explorer 2003 ->Menu>Add-ins
Select the following:
Show my Registry
Associate REG Files

Then click done

The patch includes the following:

- WAP Settings
- MMS Settings
- Regional Settings
- GPRS Settings
GLOBE WAP Free GPRS of Globe
GLOBE GPRS GPRS
GLOBE INTERNET GPRS Pay GPRS of Globe
GLOBE MMS MMS Settings

- Data Connection Entry

Instructions:

Copy the All *.reg to your smartphone, launch Resco Explorer 2003 on your SAP, click all the *.reg and you'll be prompted if the patch was successfull.

Go to Programs>Settings>Data Connection>
Set the following according to your preferrence:

INTERNET CONNECTION: (set this to Globe Internet GPRS, but if you don't want to pay for GPRS access, just set this to GLOBE WAP just to be sure)
GLOBE WAP - free Internet to Myglobe
GLOBE INTERNET GPRS - Pay Internet no restrictions

WAP CONNECTION: (Globe WAP)
GLOBE WAP - free Internet to Myglobe
GLOBE INTERNET GPRS - Pay Internet no restrictions

Then lastly go to Programs>Internet Explorer>Menu>Options>Connections
Change it to Wap Network.

Make sure that Globe has setup MMS on your account.
If not just type in your Smartphone SMS:
GO N7650
and send it to 2951 - This will enable you to receive MMS
dont mind the N7650 it will work for your smartphone.

WARNING: If you use Globe Internet GPRS, you will pay for the kilobytes that runs on your session. If you want to check if your GPRS connection is on the UNLIMITED ACCESS which you will pay for, just browse smartphone.modaco.com if you got in then your access is NOT FREE. Use GLOBE WAP for free GPRS access of Globe and is ONLY RESTRICTED to the links on MYGLOBE, which are quite a handfull of usefull site.

Note: The patch should be executed on your SPV and not on the PC and ALL THREE REG FILES SHOULD BE IMPORTED!!! Download has been updated. All ROM Version are now supported.

Finally, to completely transform your Smart Amazing Phone into Globe Amazing. Just install this cab that i made from SmarTweak. This also includes an uninstaller to revert back to default.

Hi,

I tried this, followed instructionse. But can't seem to make it work.
I'm on Orange 1.6 rom.

Help naman, I want my MMS to work. Internet explorer is working perfectly.

Mon, your mms might still be disable from globe. I placed the instruction on the post above. It should work after that.

umm..im on globe since sept last year, everything works(mms,wap,etc) but then sumtimes the "G" goes off and i cant connect to anything! usually after i run out of load, then when i reload the "G" wont cum up again. any enlightenments?? pls help :wink:

Never run out of load if your in prepaid, leave atleast 1 peso load, if you run out of load you wont have GPRS Access. when you load it will come back but depende yan minsan after making a call and i experience after i load babalik ang G after few minutes.

Anyone? I am planning to buy SAP and wish to unlock it but don't have the guts to do it. Any one who is willing to do it for me? Am glad to visit your place and I will appreciate it very much if you can help me.
