Hi,

I am new to this forum and to owning a pocket pc phone, I have a MDA Compact III and would like a question answered if possible. I would like to know if there is a way of adding my own ringtone/sound to Text message alerts.

I would be grateful for any help.

Regards

This is very easy!

Notifications are best used as WAV files of less than 25KB, though some devices can use MP3. Copy the WAV file you want into My Device/Windows; now go to Start/Settings/Sounds and Notifications. The Drop Down box allows you to select a large number of variables. In your case, scroll down to Messaging/New SMS then select Play Sound- you should be able to choose your new file from the file browser.

Rintones should be WMA, MID or MP3, and are stored in Windows/Rings. Use the same control as above to make the selection- Phone/Incoming Call

In that case, try putting the WAV files into My Device/Application Data/Sounds

Just tried it on my P3600 and worked OK for Notifications and Phone Ringtones smile.gif (in fact MP3's in this folder can be selected for notifications as well)

They haven't... Application Data/Sounds and Windows directories on the device should work fine!
