There are already a few threads on this. The ones that have been delivered so far and stock htc roms - but orange are supposed to be loading their own roms onto them - so its expected that later devices will have o rom. Whether they remove live messenger for o messenger is not known.

The one I got from Orange last week definitely had Live Messenger on it - but, as pointed out above, there is a theory that Orange rushed some unbranded ones out the door to be first in the market and that the ROM build might change down the line. not sure how much I buy into that but we'll see.

The User Manual that came on the CD with mine definitely has screenshots and instructions showing the Orange Customised version of TouchFlo 3D including ORange Music, Downloads and TV.. No mention at all of messenger!

I wont be happy if we remove a free application for a chargeable one that does exactly the same thing!
I can understand in on java bases handsets that couldnt support live messenger, and it was a service that orange were providing to people that couldnt normally have it.

Lets not forget that these guys are trying to earn revenue from their investment in data.

(The fact that they give payg users free access to myspace, facebook etc is quite ironic though)

Looks like I have to wait untill the 29th before I can upgrade.

I have a quick question about the orange "unlimited" data plan, does this include the use of live messenger?

If I'm correct the Orange "Unlimited" Data Plan has a cap of 250MB but I may be wrong on that, I remember being on T-Mobile Web N Walk previously and MSN Messenger wasn't meant to be used, it was however on the Vario I received.

Just spoke to Orange retentions as they hadn't texted me after I asked them to notify me when they had it in stock next. The guy I spoke to said that they'd had a briefing this morning, and been told that there was a supply problem with HTC and they wouldn't be getting any until August at the earliest. I asked for my PAC code so I can shop around and see if anyone else has them.

Other option may be to wait for the Diamond Pro, which may be a better option for me anyway.

Definitely true.

There is no more stock until at least August, and that's a fact.

I just upgraded my Orange contract via Carphone Warehouse - they have stock so my Diamond will be delivered tomorrow biggrin.gif

I'm presuming therefore that it will be the HTC branded version instead of one that has been butchered by Orange - even better!

Do you work for Orange?
Blackhorse does (or so i believe), if you do then they really should be more consistant with what they tell staff, if you don't I'd be inclined to believe him.

Not sure who been telling you august??? as there are a LOAD sat in banbury going through checks, they have passed this batch but are going to monitor battery issues VERY closely.
Maybe customer services wont get any and leave them all to us in retail!! biggrin.gif
Stocks should be replenished later this week

Perhaps they'll issue some battery advice involving "switching off 3g" like Apple did!

I've found the battery lasts even longer if you turn off the phone as well......
