I have subscription to PocketGPS speed cameras and I used to download them for TT5 on my old phone. Now with IGO8 how do I get the speed cameras (which are downloaded as TXT files for IGO on the list) to sound out warnings. They seem to show on the map, and the ones already on the speed camera database seem to sound, but the ones on the text files do not. I have basically jsut copied the txt and the BMP files into the igo8\content\speedcam folder.. any help would be appreciated.

yes... it warns for some and not others. I was wantering whether it is only picking up the spud file and not the text files? it shows the camera icons ok or perhaps just picking up the first txt file??

I don't use any other Speed Cams apart from the one I get on subscription for iGO6 (and which is still not fully ported to iGO8) but as far as I remember you need to use a special tool to incorporate 3rd party speed cam files into a format iGO can understand.

You may find it worth trying pocketgpsworld.com forums for advice?

i dont think you can put multiple speedcam.txt files in there. try one file at a time, start igp let it read in the data, delete the txt file, put in the next. repeat procedure for each txt u have.

also i think there is a txt to spud converter but i have not used it, try the site suggested by the above poster.

Sorry for being a little of topic Fizz_daz, but do you find that Igo8 is normally about 10 to 20 yards behind where you actually are on the road, that is the only problem I seem to be having with it at the moment.

Thanks.

It may be to do with the 'keep on road' option. This maintains the arrow on a road, even if the GPS signal is a little off, but needs some extra processing power.

The baud rate would not make any real difference- the baud rate just sets the maximum allowed transfer rate across the COM port, but as the satellite signals are well under 1000 baud anyway, the set rate is largely irrelevant.

It's a bit kludgy smile.gif

During installation, iGO should import your contact details, though it is a bit picky about the address layout. These are saved to a Contacts category in POI

To navigate to a contact, you need to know roughly where they are located. Hit Find via the Binocular icon, or the menu system, and Find POI. Now select 'Around Address' and enter the rough location.

Press Done, which brings up the POI chooser, from where you can page across to Contacts. Tap Contacts and your Contacts are listing in ascending distance from the selected address.

Tap the desired contact, which takes you to the standard Cursor Menu for that location from where you can select 'Set as Destination'

Same here- I raised it with their support guys when I was Beta testing it, but no real interest was shown. Just told it must be the address format sad.gif

I think it relies on the property number to be within the range in the mapping software (so 50 High Street may be recognised, but 55 High Street may not?)

At one point I had a context menu in Contacts for 'Navigate to..' which did work, but for the contacts not listed within the POI, of for when I elected not to import contacts, I still got the 'unknown address' error. That context menu has disappeared as well now since I did a hard reset, so I don't know how it got there originally smile.gif

As I said above, this option has disappeared in my current installation for some reason sad.gif Using the 'official' iGO8 SD card in my Ameo and correctly installed from the 2577 folder.
