Does anyone have a clue how to disable the Static Navigation feature on the GPS receiver of Omnia? I tried with SirfTech and many other tools, none of them were able to put the receiver is SIRF mode.

Does anyone know what kind of GPS receiver chip is inside this PDA-Phone? If it's not Sirf Star III, then no wonder that all the tools I tried wouldn't work. If we'd know this, at least we could try with proper tools.

More on SN (Static Navigation), and why may it be needed to be turned off:

Interesting, thanks. They may name it differently than 'Static Navigation', but has the same effect... when walking with the device in my hand, it jumps at every 50 meters, and doesn't show correctly speeds below 5km/h. Very annoying when geocaching or walking as a tourist.

Strange, its not the case with me, I am using it when walking quite successfully.
What software do you use? I use Google Navigator and builtin Google Maps.

maybe this is the reason why my camera is giving me geotagging all over the place, like the next picture is 100 meters away, but just 2 seconds away from the 1st picture, unless im flash, thats not possible

sirf star III's get fixes in seconds and do not need all that xtras crap.

the chip cant be any bigger/smaller then the one in the omnia or draw anymore power then those.

wonder what was in samsung's head when it designed this phone???

they come out with one of the most advanced mobile phones and stick this crap into it...... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
