Hi,

Ive had an o2 XPhone for two days now and Ive had a problem with the display.

Under power management ive set the phone to turn off the backlight after 10 seconds. The phone is in standby with the indicator blinking but when i go to press a key to turn the screen back on it locks up and I have to take the battery off to be able to see the screen.

Yesterday it did it 2 or 3 times and it did it again today.

Is this a typical problem with the o2 XPhone or is it a fault which in that case I would return it.

Thanks

Rambler

Do you mean it locks up when the screen turns on, or it has already locked up with the blank screen with the LED still blinking? (In the latter case, others can still call you as the phone is still on the network, but it doesn't ring.)

Anyway, this appears to be an Xphone specific problem since I don't see any mention of similar problems here or in other European forums for the Voyager phones. But in local forums where Xphone is more common, this problem has been discussed quite thoroughly.

My latest theory regarding the Xphone lockup is carrier signal strength and cellsite switching.

Hi,

When the phone goes to standby mode only the CALL button (the green upturned handset button) brings it back from sleep mode.

In regards to signal (wattage) effecting the phone it seems true.

If you have the Singapore/Malaysian version of the XPhone (the one without chinese) try changing your homescreen to one that DOESN'T have the O2 scrolling icon bar/launcher. The seems to have fixed the problem for the users here in MAlaysia

The default homescreen looks like crap anyway tongue.gif
