The GP32 is a portable gaming system from a Korean company called Gamepark. (visit www.gp32emu.com and www.gp32x.com for more information)

It utilises a 133mhz ARM9 processor, and there lots of very well coded and optimised emulators available for the system... i was wondering how easy it would be for one to port some of the GP32 software over to the C500 for example, which utilizes a 200mhz ARM9.... :?:

This is a real good post. I too have a gp32 and there are lots of amazing programs for it. Especialy emus that run almost full speed. The main drawback for some emus is that the gp32 only has 8meg of ram now surely our spvs maybe c500 etc could run these programs. And im sure theres lots of open source biggrin.gif Now im not a programer in any sense but a port doesnt seem that hard or does it?? yes im a nood

the problem is, you have to emulate the OS, not the processor, so to emulate a gp32 emulating a gba you have to emulate twice, kinda silly really, and will REALLY slow it down smile.gif
so, the gp32 needs all 166mhz to emulate 14mhz (gba), so how can the MS Smartphone emulate 166mhz on a 200mhz device?
use the divide by 10 rule for emulation tongue.gif.... to emulate 166mhz you'd need 1.66ghz (not an exact science of course, but its the safe way of guessing the speed required)

Why do you have to emulate the gp32?? They both share the same processor the Arm9 but the gp32 runs at 133 with 8 meg where as the c500 etc runs at 200mhz with a bit more memory. Now i dont know anything about programming lol but id say the c500 has a bit more bang behind it? Ive had my gp32 for a few years now and there really is some amazing apps games and especially emus. Would the only problem be the display size?? Please believe me when i say anything you guys program is GREATLY apreciated but if theres open source code there from a simalar system would it be hard to compile stuff from the gp32 to the c500 etc. ......hey i dont know lol i just want megadrive with sound hehehe. Im LOVING my new c500 coming from classic SPV
