Basically it seems that anything needed regularly by the phone (e.g. ring tones, home screens, background images, contacts) cannot be stored on the memory cards. This also includes some applications (e.g. GPRS monitor).

This is presumably due to the latency when reading from the card and to prevent errors when the card is removed (e.g. Which background should be used if the actual background is stored on the card and the card isn't present. How can you measure GPRS usage unless the monitor app is available all the time?).

Other applications (e.g. games) and data (e.g. music files, photographs) can be stored on the card.

Hope that makes sense,
Barry

Shoud be albe to put them anywhere on the storage card as long as you reference them propery in the Theme. I wonder if there is any way in XML to generate a ramdom numer which would select a different background every time the phone is started.

you could put them anywhere and then make a shortcut it them, however it seems pointless since the files are so small anyway.
