Noticed this over at coolsmartphone.com so go check it out. A new website phonethemes.com claims they have cracked animation on a homescreen without eating up battery power. You can sign up for beta testing.

Hope hasn't been posted already.

The site hasn't been updated since Sep 29, so it looks like a dead project.

Good point although coolsmartphone.com seems to think beta testing is beginning in February and they've had a sneak peak at the themes appartantly.

What I found funny was the N-Gage with the Windows Mobile OS showing on it. Why do people do that?

I got an email reply from phonethemes today.

They have confirmed that the project is ongoing with a possibilty for Februrary testing.
I'm definitely looking forward to that

i am beta testing the themes now, what do the rest of you beta testers think?
they work good but like screensavers on the pc i get bored and keep changing
them

I am not sure about the animated themes, it seems a little to advanced for simple screen designers, Plus all the deal about getting the animation signed and stuff, I was really surprised to see so little done from the madbeetle side of things. After all most people don't stare at the screens to really enjoy animations. Cool as it is I am not sure it will catch on in these early phases. Now what would be cool is to take a clip from a movie and use that for the homescreen....!!!! With the wide array of themes out there I think it would have to be something better then what we have seen to really grab hold.
