Tried to flash my SPV C500 to the above mentioned ROMs.
Mainly to get rid of all this Orange stuff.

The process completes without errors and after restarting the phone, it says: Invalid or missing sim card. After that I get a message: Software Crashes. Please contact Service Center.

Orange Updates are working fine, but Imate and Qtek do not work.

Anyone experienced the same ?

Thanx.

Lots of people have. They don't work.

Some user suggested re-SIMunlocking with the v3 unlocker should fix this problem. I used v3 and am now running the Qtek update on my C500 with no problems whatsoever...

Interesting - i've just unlocked mine again with v3 - thanks for the info. At the moment I'm quite happy with the Orange ROM so haven't tried any other. Do any of the others have WMP10? if so that might make me try. wink.gif

What about application unlocking... can you still do it from Orange OTA if you have the iMate SP3 ROM?

Can you please post a download link for the iMate SP3 ROM?

Thanks!

How much faster does the new ROM make the phone, and is it really worth the £20 to get it unlocked? (just for the rom, not for a different sim)

Does the Audiovox rom work and would that give me WM10? Otherwise what are the advantages (no orange theming) and disadvantages (no orange plugin) of flashing the rom.

Would I still keep "caller picture" or is that part of the orange plugin?

There is no need to unlock the applicationlock. The iMate ROM does not have any app. lock.
I could re-install all my apps without any problems.

I am new here, so don't know if it is allowed to post a link for the iMate ROM here...
Maybe a mod can help out here.

The phone just reacts faster in the menus and there is less delay when pressing a key.

I don't know about the Audiovox Rom.
Caller ID is still included.

I think this is what I have been looking for ... in order to get rid of all the Orange guff.

I have already unlocked my C500... so am I correct in saying I should flash the phone with the imate ROM, and then immediately apply the unlock?

Or as I have already unlocked the phone with v3 (I think) will the ROM work when I insert my Vodafone SIM?

Thanks for the help..

Cheers

Just flashed my C500 and everything works fine.

Anyway people from http://www.imei-check.co.uk assured me that after unlocking no ROM update will lock again the phone..

In "theory" if anything flashing with a different ROM could lock it to a different network; although they say it won't.
But in all honesty if this happens then all you need to do is to re-unlock the phone with the app.

I've backed up all my files in readiness for flashing; but I'm still not sure if its really worth the £20, but then again I do have an O2 sim at home with LOADS of free texts I could do with utilising.
