I am a bit of a dunce and can never remember my mobile number.
What is the easiest way to get this to appear as a simple text entry on the home screen? If this involves plugins, how are they installed ? Sorry to be a dumbo. |

I'm not so sure I would want my mobile number displayed on the homescreen although I suppose you could edit an XML file and display the number as text.
I usually get the SIM number from SIM Manager in the Accessories folder |

or, you could simply activesync, get a copy of a homescreen background image, and add the number to that, then overwrite that image back on the homescreen.

Or go to custom cabbage and change your operators name to your number

Excellent - custom cabbage did the trick.
I often need to know what my mobile number is but never need to know what network I use. I had to reboot to get it to work but it was just what I wanted. I don't really have time to get into xml files etc. Thanks a lot. |

It took me two goes. I think the first time I either didn't select the right type of phone (typhoon etc) or I didn't select the "change from" carrier detail.
Also perhaps make sure you only make the one change. Finally I saved the CAB into Storage and then used mobile file explorer to install it. |

If you can't change the name using custom cabbage, it can also be done with RJV RegTweaks -
for smartphone 2002 for smartphone 2003 I recommend this app anyway for a load of other useful little tweaks. This post has been edited by lighthouse82: Jan 31 2005, 19:52 |

Do you get the "CAB installing" message?
You may need to uninstall previous Cabbages first. Also, when setting up the Custom Cabbage be careful you don't accidentally use the mouse wheel to select the wrong type of phone etc. |

although the list would be longer, would checkboxes for phone type be better than the drop down list?

QUOTE(BrAGoL @ Feb 1 2005, 15:16) Change the operator name in your homescreen! 1. Use PHM RegEdit then go to: HKLM/Software/Microsoft/RIL/OperatorNames 2. Hit Values (left soft key) then Menu > New Value > String. So if you're using Example... Smart SIM, type 51503 as value name. Then under value data, type your desired operator name. Look for your network code here: http://www.pswin.com/gwhelp/countryandnetworkcodes.htm 3. Restart phone or toggle FlightMode On-Off for changes to take effect. Example: ...since Im using Addict Mobile SIM (Smart Telco) Value Name: 51503 Value Data: Sneaky <- this will appear in the homescreen
