I used to laugh at people who wanted to go through the trouble of changing their providers logo on the splash/boot screen into something else. That was when I had the comparatively classy AT&T logo. Now that I have to see that goofy Cingular screen on startup, all I want to do is get rid of it. Can someone point me to a hack that will let me change it to something...anything else?

Take a look at these registry keys:

\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Splash Screen
The Keys: CarrierBitmap, MSBitmap and CarrierShutdownBitmap can be changed to any 176x220 GIF file of your choice, or leave it blank for nothing at all.

Also, the startup and shutdown sounds can be changed as well.

\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\PowerOnWave
on = 1
(change to a 0 for no sound)
Sound = MOTO_Startup.wav
(you can change the wave file here)

\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Shutdown
on = 1
Sound = MOTO_Powerdown.wav
(same idea for the shutdown)

I downloaded and installed PHM Registry Editor, but I'm very hessitant to mess around with the registry. I see the CarrierBitmap...how do I change it to an image of my choice?

I think is 176x200, but I could be wrong.
