Does the phone have circuitry that shuts off the charger when it is sufficiently charged? I am asking because I just purchased a cradle that I can plug the charger into - thought it might be better than plugging and unplugging the charger from the phone. After some time, I notice that the charging icon on the phone will disappear. Is this normal?

Also, will the phone charge if left plugged into the usb port of a computer? The instruction manual really could be improved upon....

If the manaul isn't answering your questions, check out the developer's site: http://www.motorola.com/content/0,,1989,00.html You should be able to find answers to your questions there.

The developers site does not answer my questions. Does anyone have an MPX 220 that can answer these questions?

I recently read some info on the battery charging of the MPX 220 - probably was somewhere on Modaco. It said that it purposely shuts down the charging so it doesn't overheat. Then it will periodically top it off again if its still plugged in. I don't remember where or more details than this but that's why it seems to shut off the charging and come back on later.

The USB connection does also charge the phone (although at least one person claims it drains their phone).

Hi,
The 220 cradle shows a red light when plugged into a USB port, drop the phone in closed and the outer lcd screen shows a moving battery charge, when it's fully charged it vibrates an alert, then stops charging.

I can verify what Julie has written. I used the USB cable to charge mine until I got the right charger-cable (I bought a EU version). It does charge while on the USB cable and the battery icon replaces the plug icon when charging is complete.

::cheers::

Thanks everyone for the feedback. It confirms what I thought to be true. This phone is great!
