Dear god, I am fed up with the search function. I find my answer usually on the 10 page, which mind you, takes a long time to get to.

So I'm just going to start a new thread instead sleep.gif

After reading thousands of posts, I cannot find a media player so far that plays WMA's other the Windows Media Player installed. ANYTHING would be better than windows media player. Maybe I could install the codec on Betaplayer?

MPX-200.

You wanna see miracles?
You wanna see compression?

One of my 128mb SD cards has 400 average of 3 min. songs in WMA format. There is no difference that you can hear at all through headphones when comparing to Mp3 format.

What's the trick? Reading thousands and thousands of posts and retaining somewhat useful information from the crap search tool sleep.gif. Lots of time to experiment also helps.

Hmm, my Betaplayer already plays WMA files and I don't think I installed the extra codecs (although if I did, they would have been from the official site).

I read in the forums that Betaplayer will stop being able to play them with the latest WMP10 ROM updates though, but if you have WMP9 you should be ok.

Yep, Betaplayer version 0.5 plays WMV and WMA files as standard (no plugins needed).

Speaking from experience - I installed Betaplayer 0.5 a while ago and have been happily playing WMA, WMV - and pretty much any other format I can throw at it!

Maybe it's gonna start being easier for them to list the formats Betaplayer doesn't support rather than those it does! smile.gif

I love deadlines.

I especially like the noise they make as they go whooshing by!

Current toy: HTC Touch Pro with 8Gb card and standard ROM (won't be standard for long!)
Other toys: Qtek 8500 in pink running WM6.1 (10 year old stepson's phone), SPV C500 running WM6.1 (for when one of us needs something smaller)
Sold on ebay over the years: MDA Vario 3 (Kaiser), MDA Vario 2 (Hermes), SPV M500 (Magician), SPV (Canary) - only the Canary wasn't flashed to within an inch of it's life!

Odd I just went to the site, downloaded 0.5 and installed it on my SD card, then opened it navigated to where my WMA's are all stored on the SD card, and there's nothing there.

Open up WMP and there they are. So how do I tell Betaplayer to go find them?

I'm on SP2002, maybe that's the difference?

Welcome to my first post of many!!!

You're in luck. PocketMusic has recently upgraded to version 2 which now supports WMA. It now has some nice features like gapless playback and crossfading.

This player is the best I have found for music. It is also great if you want to listen to audio books as it has a bookmark feature.

See this post here

I'm using 2002, so I don't feel your joy.

I'm also using betaplayer 0.5 stable. Nothing comes up

I tried displaying all files inside betaplayers file explorer, and opened up my WMA from there. It's says "Windows Media Audio Codec not Found 161", and after looking at their forum, it apparently doesn't work with 2002 phones. Here's my question, can I somehow port this codec to my phone?

Yes I tried that and got the same message, I was just about to see if I could find the codec on their site, but it appears you've tried and failed so I don't have to bother. I was going to try Pocekt Music but the file size seems enormous compared to everything else, and I have a hate of large programs.

Oh well back to Media Player.

I seem to remember that the betaplayer plugin for WMV/WMA was not compatible with WM2002 and therefore assume that betaplayer Version 0.5 (with WMA support built in to the main application) will also not work with SP2002.

And, as mentioned earlier, Betaplayer 0.5 can't play the WMV/WMA files in phones that have WMP10 either.

Works great is you have SP2003/SE and WMP9 though wink.gif

Sorry to go off topic, but this could be useful for happytang in future searches: use google, I find it works much better then the modaco-searchtool. Just enter "site:modaco.com" in front of your search question, like so: Google example. It is a lot faster than crawling through pages of topic replies. Although this crawling through all the crap does often give you insights on subjects you didn't even know you were looking for... tongue.gif
