Is it me or has this topic gone completely silent these days? Is there any more news on this latest firmware update with WMP10 on it?

p.s. Modaco - not sure what the "a.tribalfusion.com" link is on the modaco site but it is really, really annoying as every minute I get the "The current web page is trying to open a page in your trusted site list" dialog twice in succession.

If you unpack it with WinRAR, the nk.nbf file shows a last modified date of 5/5/2005 at 2:58 PM. Sounds pretty recent to me.

Here's the reply I got from Orange re: the ROM update:

QUOTE
Hi,

Thanks for your enquiry.

I am aware of rumors on internet forums. They are untrue. The revised ROM has
not yet been released in the UK so even brand new phones have not been
updated.

The release of the ROM update will be done once Orange, Microsoft and HTC are
happy that everything is fixed and have not confirmed an official release
date.

Kind regards,

Seems like the rumours were untrue?

I think it's a shame that our forum was given an announcement so long ago about the update being imminent. I understand that Paul was 'informed' about this, I presume from someone at O. I also understand that there is a relationship between modaco & orange (certainly in the UK), and so I understand also that the mods here don't want to get involved in the inevitable slagging match that ensues after yet another Orange update fiasco. But it's disappointing that there has been no follow up response - either from Orange or from modaco. I said before, I';d rather not have heard anything about this update than be told it's imminent & still be waiting around over a month later. & the subsequent silence from Paul or Orange or anybody, is a shame.

It's a pity that O keep shooting themselves in the foot like this. I'm working oin the assumption that someone who works for Orange informed Paul about the UK update - otherwise why would the post have been made in the first place. To then just leave such a long gap without any further comment just makes the situation seem stupider than it has to be. Orange would gain so much respect from smartphone users if they had just issued another statement in the last few weeks - even if it was a balatant lie about how they are still beta testing, it would have put all the rumours to bed and at least made us feel that there is somebody listening, whhich I think is really all that most people want.
