1 big problem here folks, the phone doesn't flip like the mPX 300, and therefore its gonna be a lot harder to dail properly etc without touching with ur hand the touch screen. I hope they fix this before they release it, else sales will fall. What do u guys think, is it a problem?

i dont think its going to be a problem, as it wasn't a problem on the xda/mda, xda2/m1000/mda2, xda2s/xda21/m2000/mda3 or the jam compact thingy
the key phrase is "touch screen" which are ment for touching and stuff later Owen -------------------- Webdude - Digital Pimp - Fat free news (with added pie)

Full price (SIM-free) will probably be around £400 - £450 I think.

why is that a 'crazy' price?
find a pda with that spec for less, or a sim free mobile for less (pay as you go doesn't count as the network still pays a hefty chunk of the handset cost) the only other pda with that spec is the zarius cl3000 which is £800, so £500 is cheap and a big flappy gps ariel would make the phone look like ass, and kill the battery far too quickly later Owen -------------------- Webdude - Digital Pimp - Fat free news (with added pie)

Which if u ask someone to pay that much here, they will think ur simply krazy. And since I am Canadian, I do agree, thats a krazy price. No 1 here has a smartphone, the first ever smartphone offered here in Canada is from Rogers Wireless (the SMT 5600). So, it is a krazy price, obviously. Not 2 many people can dish out 500 pounds to buy a phone mate. And obviously no, u cannot find a phone cheaper with the same specs, obviously. And it wont drain battery power, u dont keep GPS on all the time, much the same u dont keep bluetooth on all the time. |

QUOTE(Disco Stu @ Jun 3 2005, 09:25) Phew, if that's the case it will be bloody expensive. I just bought a brand new laptop for the same price with pretty decent spec. Let's hope Orange can offer a good deal when my contract is up for renewal otherwise it's out of my range of what I would spend on a handheld, no matter how state of the art it is. |

built in gps would be a nice touch, you can carry your phone and use the navigator at the same time while you are walking, in a bike, bus or your own car without having problem with bluetooth connection(or cable connection). why have two device when you can have it all in one.
downside 1. i agree the battery life will drain much faster. 2. how much will it cost? 3. when? This post has been edited by hunyango_uk: Jun 22 2005, 21:07 -------------------- "don't be deceived by the looks, try to look under the hood."

WHy carry another device? It just makes life harder. And integarted GPS is coming soon, really soon and should be a norm soon.. the HP Messenger pocket pc phone has integarted GPS and its coming out in July, check the link. http://msmobiles.com/news.php/3937.html, also check out this smartphone with GPS http://msmobiles.com/news.php/3895.html and check out this program that looks pretty good that utilizes GPS http://msmobiles.com/news.php/3941.html. There are more programs like that, just read the article everyone. As for battery life, GPS shouldn't be on all the time. You should be able to turn it on and off, like bluetooth and wifi. I wouldn't want it on all the time, due to health concerns! Also, with GPS (bill gates was talking about this) you can request to see your friends location, kinda like a text message pop up, ur friend then accepts, and the location is then displayed on a map on ur phone with the quordinates that are sent back after ur friend accepts. You can probably use Pocket Streets to do this. GPS is really good, and it should be integrated. When a good smartphone comes out, with querty keyboard etc like the HTC Universal (except smaller and lighter - still prob a while away) then I will buy it, given it has GPS. |
