Hi,

I have done another post but no 1 has replied sad.gif so I'm making this other one! Someone please help me! I sync just fine with active sync with my pocket pc and smartphone (SMT 5600) but after I unplug the SMT 5600 it completely freezes. I tried calling the phone to see what would happen, nothing happens I get a busy signal, so I must take out the battery etc. This is a very big probably since its very time consuming to take out the leather case etc and it takes long for the phone to boot up as we already know

does anyone else have this problem? Someone please help! I've formatted both phone + PC and the problem seemed to go away tho became persisitant, anything? I will reinstall activesync right now too.

Sorry I'm not sure what you mean by the above, Is everything ok now?
I've not had this problem but it sounds as if Activsync on the phone was hanging on a process of some sort. This problem could be caused by an application you may have had installed on the phone.

Right now it seems OK, but I'm sure it will start to freeze after I disconnect the phone from the USB (then I gotta take out the battery). Perhaps I should try to hardreset the phone but I remember I did this some time back and after a while it started happening again. Perhaps it does get stuck on a process, maybe active sync exe? I cant think of nothing else cuz it only happens after I disconnect the phone from the computer after I sync.

now that you said a program might be hanging it up, I have reason to believe it might be pocket controller!

I am having the same problem with my smt5600. It is very annoying and I usually go with IR syncing to avoid removing the battery. Much slower though sad.gif

I don't have a solution (yet) but I believe the reason is because the phone is still trying to communicate with the PC at the time it is disconnected and freezes. One workaround would be to not use continuous syncing - use manual. There is also a program out there called ActiveSync Disconnector from Ruttensoft, but I have not been able to download it from their site.

Anyone else have this problem?

OK, I have a solution to the problem.

When you are ready to disconnect your phone, right-click on the ActiveSync tray icon and select Connection Settings. Uncheck "Allow USB connection...". ActiveSync will disconnect from the phone and you can then unplug it with no problems. When you are ready to sync again, go in and check the box before connecting your phone.

I've done this several times with no problems. Not the most elegant solution but it works!

Thx for ur input!
Yeah, my setting for syncing is manual, I will do what u said to uncheck allow usb connection. I wonder if u uncheck it, disconnect ur phone, then active sync disappears, and u plug in ur phone, will it work right away? or do u have to manually open it? Well not a problem, as long as it doesn't freeze. I will try what u said and do that from now on. It doesn't always freeze, but like 90% of the time it does, so I dont wanna risk it. I use to just turn off the phone while it was connected then unplug and turn it back on, but that takes far 2 long.

I also sync my pocket pc, and there are no problems. I've hardreset my phone, but it doesnt do anything. I had 2 SMT 5600s (frist one broke, then go replacement) with the first one I never had that problem.

Well, I will try to unplug it normally a few more times and if it continues then I will do what u said, thx but I do wonder why it happens?

thx again!

Bummer! I use this technique and it works 90% of the time but I still have a lock-up occasionally.

I found the program ActiveSync Disconnecter and just downloaded it. I don't have much experience with it but you might give it a try. You run it on your phone and it turns off ActiveSync. Seems to work ok. File attached.

wow! nice one! i've been looking for this after THREE periods of deleting + re-introducing the phone today. something is clearly amiss in smartphone or xp activesync that you wreck all your pairings when you log out!! can we get this sorted in a future upgrade?! lol

*rolls eyes* yep i'm starting to remember the quirks of my old spv.

EDIT: oh, i spoke too soon. when i come back on, it's telling me it can't find the comm port sad.gif so i still have to go through all that again. do i need to create new partnership EVERY time i connect with BT? kinda defeats the object, don'tcha think!?
