QUOTE(Radeon12345 @ Jul 19 2005, 12:42) It seems that when using ActiveSync 4.0, copying files to the phone using drag-and-drop in explorer no longer works....maybe due to it's new security restictions. Copy & Paste still works fine though :-) |

I've been on the phone to OCS re sync problem with WMP10. They flatly deny any liability to support this issue
They've refered me to Microsoft, who will, I guess, refer me back to the device manufacturer  I'm not sure if it was the lacky at OCS, who obviously didn't understand what I was on about, having given the data support bods a rediculous explanation of my problem. When I have time I will ring data support directly and try to get to level 2. Here's hoping..... -------------------- |

Only problem I have with my C550 is the complete lack of Homescreens, (I'm too lazy and untalented to do my own) and the problems with software.
Battery life is excellent, 4-5 days between charges, bluetooth is great, being able to transfer files over bluetooth using built-in file explorer is a bonus. Screen quality is amazing. With my C550 and C500 the difference is startling. All in all it's the best phone I've ever had. |

QUOTE(chucky.egg @ Jul 25 2005, 12:15) All my main softwrae works some with minor glitches (like CoPilot some text doesn't display properly) but it is all usable. The better screen screen and camera are great. My main "complaints" are a) when you enter new words in T9 it no longer keeps the first word it suggests for you to edit, you have to enter a new word from scratch, All in all I'm very pleased with the C550 - If you have a C500 it's probably not worth upgrading for most people but if you have anything else the C550 is great. I'm sure the other s/ware that doesn't work will be patched so it is up to people to decide if it's worth it. TomTom users probably shouldn't upgrade until a patch is made available (Unless they "upgrade" to CoPilot of course Horses for courses of course but I certainly don't regret getting the C550! -------------------- He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. thanks dade, when this green light is on is it actually charging the phone or is it just waiting to be unplugged? ive never understood this, they always say charge overnight etc but after a couple of hours (/minutes!) they always stop charging and report as full, will it improve life leaving it like this or would i be better off just running it empty then charging overnight?
thanks again |

This advice to not use and charge the phone for 16 hours is years old information from back in the days when it really took that long to charge the NiMh or even worse NiCad battereys, which were supplied near flat (probably couldn't hold their charge for too long in the box anyway). I'm guessing that the reason the sales advisors are still made to tell customers to do this is partly to reduce the number of support calls from new phone owners like: Why doesn't my new phone turn on? Ignor it. Who wants to wait a day to play with their new C550 when it's fully charged and ready to use out of the box?! |

I have the same problem with mine. Ive been charging my C550 by putting the battery in my okd c500.
If i plug in the charger with the c550 it goes green in about a minute. the charge goes from say 30% to 100%. Unplug the charger and percentage goes back to 30%. Is the phone really being charged? What is up with these new batterys. The C500 did not do this....... |

Logged in and had a look at C550 posts in anticipation of mine arriving tomorrow.
So far I can ascertain. 1. loads of you don't know what you're talking about regarding old SPV's! E100 was a brick with an 8 way fab joystick - but had 3 replacements to get decent firmware ! - got mine the week they came out E200 was an improvement but battery life sucked - upgraded 1st day they were available (ha ha ha to the stupid bugger who nicked mine out my handbag in Bishopsgate EC2 last Summer it was a pants phone) C500 - thanks Orange for the freebie (long story!!!) not an upgrade. 100% better battery life except came in nasty black that looks tatty when bashed around in handbag. Not sure about joystick but better than E200's. Phone smaller and easier to lose in said bag. Love this phone Love affair over. Eagerly awaiting new Silver C550. May actually start to use some if the functionality. Currently only use Calendar and Contacts !!! Like the idea of Media controls on front. May get around to downloading some tunes now ! Come on guys. A phone is a phone, but an SPV is something special. Love your SPV and it will love you -------------------- *******

i love mine, everyone has been saying its not worth upgrading from c500, but i think it is. A fix fior WMP10 is on the way, games will soon support qvga and look stunning and the camera is amazing, just turn the brightness down a bit. music without "tssss" is a dream, and the media buttons rock.

QUOTE(simon11 @ Jul 15 2005, 20:49) Hold my hand up to that one! I was reading an article that said it was larger than the c500. On the Orange site it states that it is the same size? Simon. It's bigger, not by much, 1mm thicker, 2mm wider, 2mm longer. Doesn't sound much, makes a big difference to the feel tho. |
