My earlier post Orange & Motorola MPx220 refers.

Check out http://www.smartphonefrance.info/actu.asp?ID=2968

for details of the c600 which appears more "business" like the c500 than the recent c550 release.

It has some interesting features, alas not Windows Mobile 2005 nor 3G.

I rekon WM2003 is well past its sell by date.

i think this is balls. the website gives absolutely no info on its source, the photo is blatently fake, this device wouldn't be leaked to some french website before anyone else??? would it?

EDIT: the specs on the website refer to a SPV M500, screen res, unit size etc... therefore the specs don't match the photo or the phone would have to be about 18CM long :??:

Errr. The specs ARE different to the M500

The M500 is 150g in weight not 105 and 10.6 x 5.7 x 1.8cm not 10.8 x 4.6 x 1.9cm.

With regards the screen res being the same: you do know the screen res of all Smartphones from the C550 onwards is the same as the M500?

Oh, and I'm pretty sure the HTC Magician (M500) does not have EDGE.

ok, ok, ok.... the size of the phone was an estimate but only a couple of mm out...

the screen size on the french website for this new phone is the same as the M500/Imate jam... the point i was trying to make is that if the photo was genuine, the specs can't be accurate, if the specs are accurate, the photo can't be genuine.

or am i missing something stupid in which case i'll go sit in the corner.

Squall, cheers mate, sounds about right.

Confused and hungover, does this translated page help? click here

I don't follow you on the screen size not being possible on the handset pictured. It says - Screen 320x240 with 65536 colors. Did you know this description would be correct of the SPV C550? QVGA resolution which is 320x240 with 65k colours.

*goes and sits in the corner*

i saw the resolution matched the M500's and for some reason assumed the actual SIZE of the screen woulld be the same.... if that were true the phone would be like something picasso painted.

ah well, going on holiday in 17 hours.... blink.gif

No big. I know what you mean but the Magician, the Blue Angel, and the new HTC Hurricane are all the same resolution of 320x240 with 65k colours despite the different size screens. Just as theMPX220 is the same lower resolution as the C500 but with a smaller screen. Something to do with how many pixels or the size of the pixels they squeeze in...

thats right, it's different sized pixels... the M500 has much bigger pixels than the C550...
i should have twigged, after all i do work for a large LCD monitor manufacturer.

same thing applies to 17 and 19 inch monitors, they have the same reolution but the pixels are bigger on the 19 inch (bigger not always better wink.gif )

Orange are not going to release the C600 just after the C550 has come out, it will be 6 months at least.

I'd expect the C600 to come on the anniversary of the C500s release so about 5months.

Surely they cant just keep releasing the same phone over and over again with just tiny little differences each time. They should wait until there is a reason to release a new phone, not jsut go tget a new flavour of the month.

before anyone else says it, I'm not even sure if I'm being ironic, (spv, spv e100, spv e200, then spv c500, spv c550 so why not same phone iwth tiny update.)
