Dade (or others who know all about the M500) -

Can someone perhaps start a thread listing the useful things to switch off/on with a M500 straight of the box, things like turning off the infra-red receive to save power or any other useful tidbits.

I have just received my M500 from Orange (yippee), but have not used a PPC device for years so any useful knowledge on this device would be useful.

Also, does the supplied CD have anything other than Outlook and Activesync on? My CD player in my laptop is knackered and I cannot be bothered to try the CD on someone else's machine if they are the only things on the CD.

Yes, I know I could read the manual, but have you seen it......

Thanks

A couple more questions -

Does the M500 support gmail? I cannot find anywhere to input Server port numbers?

Also, can the M500 support more than one POP email account. I have just tried to set up a second account, except when I get to the screen asking whether the Email account is POP3 or IMAP, it will not let me progress to the next screen, saying the account name already exists (when it doesn't).

Heeelllpppp.

thanks

This is microsoft, so when you enter the address of the host, try sticking on ":" to the end, so it might be, "mail.gmail.com:65535" It may not work, but its worth a try.

As for naming, yeh, you can have more than one pop account (as far as i know, at least tongue.gif), but, for some reason, it names all pop accounts "POP" by default, make sure when you set up the account that its name (set underneath where you choose pop or imap), isnt the same as an existing account smile.gif

Hope this helps,

-Raz

Thanks RazerD! I have now managed to set up another E-mail account, the problem is always seems much easier when you know the answer.

I believe the suggestion you gave for Gmail appears to work, I took the port numbers from Outlook on my PC, although I didn't have any E_mails to download so I will find out later if it worked okay.

I have Gmail working fine on my M500 with the following server settings:

Incoming mail: pop.gmail.com:995

Outgoing mail: smtp.gmail.com:465

You'll need SSL enabled for both incoming out outgoing, and also add your gmail logon details for the outgoing mail server.

thanks I.C. Monsters. I had updated the port settings but I hadn't enabled SSL for outgoing E-mails. Thanks for your help.
