 C500 Orange ROM from unofficial qtec, can it be done?

Hi all,

Some months ago i upgraded my C500 to the qtek rom (4.21) so i could get the wmp10 support.

But since then i've not been able to use MMS at all to send picture messages, so now i fancy going back to the latest orange UK rom since it has wmp10 anyway

but when i try to run the rom update it goes through the screen showing

Current Version :

Qtek 8010
Image Version : 2.1.32.11

And lets me click Update which then reboots the phone into the weird rainbow screen mode then i get an error saying

"ERROR[296] UPGRADE ONLY"

telling me this nbf file cannot be used o my phone


can anyone offer any advice on how to flash the orange firmware back onto my c500?

Try reading This thread.

I believe it tells you how to edit the header to get other upgrades working. I've not tried it myself and sugest you read the WHOLE thread before trying it to see what problems and solutions others have had.

you would have to downgrade your bootloader to ver. 1.xxxxxx, before you can install the orange ROM. see attached word file for instruction in how to downgrade your bootloader.
