Device(s): MDA Compact

Hi everybod!! Have updated my rom to v1.13 on my t-mobile MDA compact and to be quite frank none of the stuff I would of liked fixed, is!! Photo contacts still not working unless program is running and even then its intermittent. Still have to turn flight mode on then off if I want to reconnect to GPRS. It still locks up intermittently requiring soft reset about once every two days. But, more annoying still is then fact that it now doesn't turn off on external power which means as there is no screen saver function I'm worried about screen 'burn' if I dont remeber to turn it off manually when I charge it over night!! I have tried every combination of power settings I can think of and its not having any of it. The only improvement that does appear is the battery life, tho thats only going by the info display on the GPRS monitor software. Dont know if its actually any better as I never let mine run right down. Has anyone else found that their phone is running better since they've upgraded? Just want to check I haven't done something wrong!

here are a few "visible" differences i have noticed since upgrading last night:

1. the Bluetooth options now has an extra tab - Com Posts, to allow the connection of an outgoing or incoming port for connecting to other devices.

Bluetooth does seem much improved in connecting/disconnecting from paired devices (eg when you go out of the room, it now reconnects better than before)

2. The t-mobile today screen plug in is now *really* annoying in that the Contacts and Messages options unlike before when they went into Contacts or Outlook, now go to another screen of options (Contacts gives Contacts, Photo Contacts and SIM Manager, and Messages gives EmailWiz, Messaging (Outlook) and MSN Messenger. - This is the same plug in as you get on the MDA-Vario (Wizard variant)

It now has a Blackberry "Push" Email application - but I have yet to try this out.

It has been too soon to comment on improved signal or battery life, but here are my initial findings.

You didnt run an Xbackup restore after you updated did you, my Jam did alot of strange things when I restored after a ROM upgrade.

Oh and just a note, you dont get 'burn' on LCD screens, you can get 'image retention' but if you switch your screen off for a few hours this will go away. (used to be an LCD TV desgn engineer--our big TV's would get image retention after about 3 weeks with a static picture, if you switched if off for a day it would return to normal, so i wouldent worry.)

I like this ROM it is an improvement.
Various power off, power issues resolved.

Most annoying problem for me. This update does not include RADIO 1.13 which has been around for ages and does allow bluetooth stereo headsets. supporting a2dp profile.

Come on MDA/MDa pro users petition T-mobile UK for an updated radio / bluetooth stack. Its not new it exists on DIPOD etc.

--------------------
MDA Comapct T-Mobile UK...................MDA PRO T-Mobile UK
ROM 1.13.00 WWE...............................ROM 1.12.42 WWE
Radio 1.12..........................................RADIO 1.00.02
EXTROM 1.13.128 WWE........................EXTROM 1.12.126 WWE
A2DP Enabled......................................No A2DP
Come on T-Mobile UK , The MDA PRO needs working fax s/w, and a CAPS LOCK indicator.

Well, you've kind of answered my question in the news post of which Magician rom includes radio 1.13 (Dopod 818 yeah?) but why do you keep referring to the MDA Pro? That's the HTC Universal and not related to this subject at all...

If you're really that bothered about the 1.13 radio version, head on over to the XDA Developers site and there are instructions for installing it on there on any ROM.

I've been using it for a month or so (I'm a sucker for higher version numbers!) and can assure you it works. Admittedly, couldn't tell you any difference at all over Orange's original 1.06 radio version, but you do get a higher number on your boot up screen! Yay. smile.gif

I love deadlines.

I especially like the noise they make as they go whooshing by!

Current toy: HTC Touch Pro with 8Gb card and standard ROM (won't be standard for long!)
Other toys: Qtek 8500 in pink running WM6.1 (10 year old stepson's phone), SPV C500 running WM6.1 (for when one of us needs something smaller)
Sold on ebay over the years: MDA Vario 3 (Kaiser), MDA Vario 2 (Hermes), SPV M500 (Magician), SPV (Canary) - only the Canary wasn't flashed to within an inch of it's life!

indeed. I've got 1.12 and have installed said patch. Bluetooth headphones work perfectly. Ynfortunately the BT phones I have are uncomfortable as hell!

Going shopping tomorrow wink.gif
