Here's a thread for emulation speed/status on the Wizard. Please post your experiences with various emulators in the format below and I'll fold them into the original post
 Systems emulated: C64 SNES General notes: a. Do not press messaging button and action button at same time - takes you to the screen alignment tool and is a pain. C64 1. Pocket C64 (by radiator) Setup: Head over to Clickgamer, buy software ($24.95), download, install on phone, and register with provided key. Speed: Very fast (with frameskip set to 1). Compatability: Only had chance to test 2 games (Monty on the Run, and Manic Miner) both of which played perfectly, with full sound (aaah...the magic of SID!) Notes: Has full landscape support (both clockwise/anticlockwise). Can't use Wizard keyboard as C64 keyboard (yet, still looking into this). Need to setup joystick as number 2 (won't work properly otherwise). Also, don't set the 'Message' button as fire if you're using the dpad - if you accidently press the 'action' button (one in middle of dpad) and the 'message' button at the same time, the screen alignment tool pops up, which normally requires a soft-reset to get out of the alignment loop it gets stuck in... SNES 1. Snes9xj4u Setup: You should download the first ARM link (version b1k). Unzip, copy to anywhere (I popped the files into my start menu). Run once, then shut down (file -> bottom option). Open up your favourite registry editor (eg PHM RegEdit) and go to local machine\software\ce44u\snes9xj4u. Change Language from 0 to 1. Save and exit, start up Snes9xj4u. Should be in English now. Speed: Very fast. Even has sound (which sounds kinda crappy). Compatability: Low. Some games work, some games don't. It usually takes a little while to load a rom initially, so don't despair. Notes: No landscape support. Plays games in portrait even when keyboard out (can be useful..). Playable on my Qtek 9100, although a bit slow (still responsive). Takes a while to start and on some menus - you can get around this by doing a quick save once you're in.
How is it unplayable for you? RPG's tend to work better Try changing your frameskip to 2 or 3 perhaps? edit 2: yep, just won a race, no problems. Sure, 50cc mushroom cup, but eh.. It's too jerky to play a game. Not fast enough even if I do adjust the frame skip. Any other emulators to try? |

How odd - did you turn the sound off?
I think that's the fastest for SNES emulation on the wizard. You can try PocketSNES and Morphgear (both free, google), but I've found those slower. I've got PocketSNES installed too and the game runs exactly the same way - pretty much exactly same performance! Only emulator I've managed to get going is CEGG...? |

Well, they're both based on Snes9x.. I find Snes9xj4u is generally faster though. Maybe try a less arcadey game?

I have kind of a specific question regarding the Wizard and emulators:
fyi: Im torn between this phone and the SP5, but I like the touch-screen of a PDA...  I read that it can work with snes emus and I was wondering if there are any button issues, such as, when you're holding one button down and you press another button, does that second button respond? or only works when you release the first button being held down. (IE: no mulitple keys can be press)? and another questions is: in snes emulation, can you play games such as mario and zelda? and how is the speed? I have a JAM and the speed was great, and I know the Kjam has a 200MHz cpu, is there any noticeable speed difference in performance? Thanks all. Nasser |

The only multiple keypress issue I've seen is mail + action button leads to screen alignment one. Otherwsie multipress is fine.
Mario and Zelda are a bit slower than on the Jam, but imo playable. I'll see if I can get some framerates tonight. I've heard that Zelda has some issues with Snes9xj4u, but may be fine with morphgear or pocketsnes. One thing though, it'll certainly be faster than the sp5

One thing though, it'll certainly be faster than the sp5 heheh, thanks emad, i was just wondering because i use my windows phone/pda's as my entertainment source; games/movies/music/internet and just wanted to know about the multipress issues because i had a mitac 8380 and 8390 and they were great, but my imate sp3i is bad with games, only the 2 soft keys are able to handle the multipress, no other button works at the same time. any other flaws with the kjam?? i had a jam and the lack of wifi lost me with it, so i gave it to my brother for a sp3i oh btw, does the wifi work on sites like gmail/hotmail anything with cookies? like the full internet on a pc? thanks all |

Hotmail access is integrated into pocket msn: it'll download your hotmail into the inbox client if you like and sync changes. Normal gmail works fine, but I use gmailwireless.com as it's formatted nicer for the screen.
