Device(s): MDA Vario

I seem have have everything working on PPC Profiles Pro, but when I use comm manager to go into vibrate mode, (hold down the comm button) when I come out the phone defaults to the windows ring tone, if you change profiles after this it goes back to working properly, any way to get this working so that when you drop out of vibrate it goes back to the profile.
Great product by the way, if you want some ideas check out Magic Profiles Pro for Symbian UIQ I used to use this on my p910i this had loads of great features.
Also why is there no button to test (play)the ring tone in the main profile page ?

Cheers

this didn't happen to me; but it was close to the behavior you reported. Instead of playing the default ring, it only vibrated (my Normal profile is set to Vibrate and Ring). Changing profiles corrected the situation.

My guess is that this is device specific and not specific to WM5. Something on the Wizard sets the ring behavior to the default settings when you push the Comm Manager button the second time to put the device BACK to where it thought you were before you put it into vibrate only mode. This registry key is probably hard coded into the device's press and hold functionality for the Comm Manager button.

I'm having problems with Vibrate too. After a few minutes tinkering, it looks like setting a profile to "Vibrate then Ring", once active changes the notification I see in the Phone app's Options correctly. If I set "Vibrate & Ring" or just "Vibrate", the Phone app's Options notification changes to "Ring". If I toggle the profile to Silent and back, I can see the Notification change from Ring to None and back to Ring, so it seems to be "setting" the reg keys each time, just with the wrong value.

I don't know what the format of the registry key for ring type is, but if it's a bit mask, it's like the app applies the Ring bitmask for Ring, "Vibrate and Ring" and Vibrate...

That's on a Qtek 9100 running WM5.

Other than that Bretto, it's a great app, and beautifully presented...

Sounds like the app that sets the vibrate mode on the above devices isnt saving the existing settings from the registry properly.

The following is what ppcprofiles ring types are based on when setting the registry for ring types.

QUOTE
Phone Ringtone Script [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0]change the value of "Script"
heres the code
a - stands for display
r - repeat/replay the script again
c - sets the volume C50, c150, c100
f - means flash .. f1 flash for 1 second and f0 stands for flash continuously
p -means play ringtone
v- vibrate then incorporate with number to state how many seconds it will vibrate example. v3 vibrate for 3seconds or v0 for continous
w - stands for wait or pause then specify how many seconds like w3(wait for 3 seconds)

heres the example
Flash - af1w60f0
Ring - apw3r
Ring Once - ap
Increasing Ring - c50apw3c150r
Vibrate Then Ring - v3w3apw3r
Vibrate - av3w3r
Short Vibrate - av1w3r
Vibrate Long Then Ring - v3w3v3w3apw3r
Vibrate And Ring - av0pw3r
Increasing Ring And Vibrate - c50apv3w3c150r
Fast Vibrate And Flash - af1v1w1f0r
Vibrate and Ring Continously without pausing - av0pr

I havent upgraded ppcprofiles-pro to wm2005 specifically so there is the possibility that there is an incompatabiity also.

Hope this makes sense.

This could be my problem - I've got a new Vario II (hermes) and PPC Profiles is working really well except I can't get it to vibrate in silent mode. It's set to vibrate in the profile but it won't do it. I've even tried raising the ringer volume but leaving it set to vibrate incase some command comes from the ringer to activate the vibration but to no avail.

Any more ideas, or does it need PPCPro to be upgraded for the latest versions of Windows mobile?
