I had a c500 and much preferred the picture browser to the new one on WM5

The only thing I prefer about the Pictures & Videos is the way you set a homescreen background. I really dislike the way that you can't go fullscreen and then zoom in/out and move around.

To copy the program from the c500, get the files Album.exe and Album.exe.0409.mui (for english, other numbers are for other languages) from your \Windows folder
Copy them to your WM5 phone into the \Windows folder (this is important because it assumes that camera.exe is in the same folder)

Once you have run it once then it associates all pictures with itself.

It appears to cope just fine with the bigger screen resolution

Hpw does it handle BlueTooth beaming of pics tho? The new app allows this, but as far as I know, the C500 didn't...?

it doesn't work and you can't send via mms either.
I use it for looking at pictures far more than anything else. it also allows you to mirror pictures and control the program via the keys.

the WM5 program can still be accessed via the start menu.

I feel the same way about it, its really crap that you can't zoom in or move around as easy as before. I've copied the files and it seems to be working great. It even detects more than the original app on the phone, its picked up an extra 3 pictures that have never found there way onto the other app....... not sure what they are though, it looks like a love heart, a swirl and a woman........... anybody else get this?

I ran into the same issue and purchased Resco Photo Viewer. It works great. It also allows you to zoom, pan, and rotate. One of my favorite options is that you can save the thumbnails so that they don't have to reload on each launch. It also features a landscape slideshow feature which fades between pics.

Hi there,

Yeah I absolutely hate the pics & vids app on the C600.. in fact when I try to view videos i have stored on my miniSD card the whole app pretty much freezes up and I have to just stop the app using the task manager..lame.

Anyone else get this problem, cos if not, it might just be a problem with my phone..kinda hope it is 'cos..:

Er, I can't find the album.exe files in the \Windows folder on my old C500 to sort the problem out (I'm looking in Smartphone\Windows, not Smartphone\Storage\windows - actually I've looked in both..) - am I looking in the right place??

(Could it be anything to do with the fact I downloaded the software update that gives you WM Player 10? Just a thought..)

Anyway, could someone possibly post the album files?

Many thanks..
Guy.

EDIT:

Okaaaaaay...just found the album.exe files, they were 'hidden'.., just needed unhiding in the folder options..

if you are going to copy over it would be better with a C550 as this is a newer version than that on a C500 seems to work better wink.gif

I can't seem to copy the files over to my device (SP5m) from my PC - i get the error message:

"Cannot copy Album. Make sure your mobile device has sufficient memory, that the file is not set as read-only and that you have permission to copy this file type"

I have checked all of the above - Any ideas why this is still happening?

I Use the Resco photo viewer on my SP5 as this has the zoom ,rotate, resize, crop, brightness and the option to add text to the photo , works perfecly with the phone plus comes with a screen capture application as well , saves screwing up the phone wink.gif

Hi all,

I'm still trying to do this but it isnt working - i'm still getting the below message:

"Cannot copy Album. Make sure your mobile device has sufficient memory, that the file is not set as read-only and that you have permission to copy this file type"

I've read a few others have had permission problems getting access to certain parts of the phone (8300/spm5) and i'm wondering if it is locked down in some ways depending on who the distributer is?

I'm desperate to get the tube map picture working on the phone so if anyone has any ideas please post

Thanks

Hi All,

registrated solely for this post :-)

Was missing the old app from the c500 too, on my 8310. Then it occured to me that you don't need a computer to transfer them from c500 to another device, just use the bluetooth or infrared options on your phones! Then copy them to the \windows dir internally with the file explorer: done

Worked fine with me.

I have done this aswell. Copied them from a C550.

Cant run the app tho.

Error: Cant find 'Album' (Or one of its components)

Strange this is. Re-copied them now 3 times.

Double checked the phone is App unlocked.

Phone is Qtek 8310 / WM5

Out of frustration i ended up copying all of the additional .mui files aswell in the hope this would work...

Anyone got any ideas?
