I didn't find a previous posting about this so here goes. The small circular rubber insert in the nav pad/joystick keeps coming out. I have thought about super glue, but I'm not sure if I should use it or another type of glue. I wondered if anyone else has had this problem and how they might have secured it.
Thanks. |

I'd imagine superglue is fine, check the particular brand says for use on plastics. Put some glue onto some paper, get a pin or piece of wite and dip it in the glue. Use that to apply the glue on the inner rim of the stick. Saves squeezing glue out onto it direct and risking covering the phone in glue. |

A member here tried it with an sp3i and made a mess, they had to source a new keypad in the end. Warranty repair? I've got the same problem with my 8310. I super glued it in once, and it stayed for about a month, then came out again just yesterday!

Hmmm, "rubber insert"... I have a Qtek 8310... I don't remember seeing this insert in my joystick. Can someone with a Qtek 8310 verify that they have this insert? Are spares of this insert available for sale? |

Richard I contacted i-Mate support and they suggested sending it in for repair. The only problem with that is I really don't want to go without a phone for 2 weeks or so (shipping and 7 day repair time). I don't have a spare phone to use in the meantime. I guess I am going to use some kind of glue to fix it myself. Thanks for the replies. I'll post back how it goes. |

QUOTE(kipnlar @ Feb 23 2006, 15:34) So what material is this insert made from then? Knowing for sure will help me pick the type of glue to use. My v1240 was plastic with a metal outer ring. Richard -------------------- '....It's been out in Japan nearly 3 weeks - where's yours?'

So which glue did you guys end up using? I have the same problem and crazy glue does not work! -Ka$h I did end up using superglue. I put a small drop on a paper plate and then dipped the end of a toothpick in it. I used the toothpick to place a small amount in the center of the ring on the navpad. I then carefully placed the insert back into the nav pad and gently pressed it back in. That seems to have done the trick for now. Good luck. |

I *really* wouldn't use superglue! A member here tried it with an sp3i and made a mess, they had to source a new keypad in the end. Warranty repair? Richard then count me as another member who did that. i used superglue to tyr to fix my joystick and really messed it up. i had to buy a new keypad off of ebay, but it turns out it wasnt for right sda, so i had to de-solder the joystick off, and put it on my old one. it was horrible lol. a warranty is not the anser. the reason is because the sp5 joysticks keep messing up and going "sticky" so every month or so i need to put graphite lubricant in the joystick to make it better. can u imagine getting a new sda every month or so? i dont think so... -------------------- try my wmp skins for smartphone! | and my newest Pocket PC compatible skin!

this confirms HTC's $HITY build quality. they don't seem to understand that their joystick hardware SUCKS.
That plastic-rubber thing popped and I lost it somewhere so I have to find something to put there. The down movement also stopped working. I left my phone to a friend of mine which is going to do the Sony Ericsson mod; it seems that joysticks from SE phone perfectly fit on SP3i/SP4/SP5 phones and they work even better than the factory ones. -------------------- ![]() Nokia 6110 -> Nokia 7250 -> Nokia 6600 -> SPV E200 -> Mpx200 ->SPV C550 & Mpx220 |
