 ROM upgrade and backup restore, Can you do a system backup restore after a rom upgrade

Folks,

I am contemplating puting the latest A2K imate rom on my TMobile MDA. After doing so, is it safe to restore teh system usinga backup done under te previous rom or is that likely to corrupt registry settings?

Also, while we are at it, does anyone have experince with these two roms? how stable is the latest imate rom? My tmobile MDA rom is:
ROM version 1.8.10.2 WWE
ROM date: 12/10/05
Radio Version: 01.09.10
Protocol version: 4.0.13.20

You can backup with a 3rd party app such as Sprite Backup http://www.spritesoftware.com/pocketpc.php
You have to follow the instructions carefully if you are doing a backup specifically for a ROM upgrade.
Its worked fine for me in the past but you do now have to buy it, I used the WM5 Beta last time I used it.
I would go for a rebuild however as it seems to make everything run a lot slicker anyway.
