I am getting to the point of furious with MMetrics. Support never answere e-mails anymore. I have received no incentive since November (Which actually arrived in January), its constantly sending texts but not activating. (Costing me close to a bomb!)
Getting to right now, I've just gone to there site after flashing a new ROM, both the Send to Phone and Download to PC links are 404's! What is going on with MMetrics? Can I get the costs of the excessive amount of International Texts back? (Its not expensive to get a Incoming UK SMS Gateway Number!) Can I get the costs of the excessive amount of International Texts back? (Its not expensive to get a Incoming UK SMS Gateway Number!) I set up my phone afresh (WM6 upgrade) and got the quid or so's worth of international SMSes - during email discussions with them, they did say if I supplied a bill they'd look into refunding me, but it's only a quid really... I requested my info as per the DPA, and they did it within the 28 days, for nothing - very interesting to see what info they collect about your usage (it's more than you'd think)... I still receive my cheques though, every three months - that reminds me - I still have to cash my most recent one! Also, a bit of news people may like to know about: the sale of M:Metrics to ComScore was announced today (for $44.3 million!... so about £4.60 Unsure how this'll affect M:Metrics in the future, but I doubt they'll stop their pay-for-analytics project. -------------------- ![]() |

I've recently flashed my Kaiser with a wm6.1 rom and thought I'd give the MobilePanel another try as it worked fine on my Hermes but had never worked on my Kaiser with a standard rom. Low and behold the app sent 17 international SMS in 2 days and still the panel said my account was inactive. It's now been uninstalled and won't be going back on.
Shame! |

We are no longer actively promoting MobilePanel, and if we do so again M:Metrics must GUARANTEE no international SMS.

P Paul, I think you'd do well to voice our concerns about the way their software silently initially phones home - it's not mentioned anywhere and while I was lucky (only about a quid of charges) some people have been properly stung. A lot of people will be finding this service via Google as well, so could you update the first post in this thread to reflect your stance? Christopher -------------------- ![]() |

Interesting to read about the various issues that others have experienced with M:Panel.
After a year or so with no issues (and having received a cheque from them), everything was initially going smoothly. But then things suddenly changed, despite no changes to my account, my phone, its software and settings... everything was as it was before, but the rate at which data was being sent suddenly changed. My phones were sending data in tiny packets (sometimes barely even a kilobyte) up to 30 times a day, on a T-Mobile account without Web'n'Walk. I don't use that particular connection for anything other than voice calls and the occasional text, so I was initially very confused when I saw £24 of data charges on my bill. T-Mobile could obviously offer no explanation, but kindly refunded the charges after I pointed out that there was no earthly way I could have accrued those charges myself, as the downloads were simply too small to be of any use. The next month, there were even more unexplained data charges, this time totalling £38. I again called T-Mobile, but this time they weren't so generous, and explained that they couldn't keep crediting the account. I begrudgingly paid up, but also asked T-Mobile to disable internet/data connections on that account. Unfortunately, T-Mobile didn't do that, and so when I received another bill with £30 of data charges on it, I called to complain - but there was apparently no record of my request, so they refused to credit the charges back, and I again had no choice but to pay that bill. I again requested that they block data/internet connections, took names, phone numbers etc, but I then turned my attention to the phone itself I quickly discounted most of the programs on the handset (it was basically a vanilla Q-tek installation with virtually all of the same settings from the initial auto set-up). I checked everything that I could find, including the connection settings, PIE, WMP etc, but nothing gave any indication that it might be using the data connection and incurring charges without being instructed to do so. Indeed, it was only when I removed all traces of M:Panel that the charges suddenly stopped, and indeed my bill shows that the charges mysteriously stopped shortly after I'd done so. £5 a month was a nice incentive when it cost me very little, but it went nowhere towards compensating for the huge charges it incurred. I should also mention that it was installed for at least 15 months, yet I only got one cheque, when I should surely have received at least one more. I'm glad to see the back of it. -------------------- "There will be an answer, let it be."

Stable doors and Horses bolting springs to mind. How much did they kick back for the nearly 2 year front page promo duping people into signing up exactly?... Must have been substantial for it to stay up for so long after so many problems. M.S |

I got a response to my complaint today: CODE Hello Pete, Thank you for contacting Smart M:Panel Support! According to our records you have a HTC TyTN II; please confirm that this is still true. If you still have the HTC TyTN II: What operating system you are running? Have you recently upgraded your OS or made a change to your device’s firmware? When you received the SMS and attempted the installation did you receive any error messages or were your able to successfully download the application and complete the installation? Can you provide us with any additional relevant issues you have experienced during the installation or activation of our software? Any additional information will be useful in helping us resolve the issue. We apologize for the inconvenience but will work hard to resolve the issue. While we look into this issue please keep the meter uninstalled. Thank you for your continued participation in our panel. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Cheers, Christina Smart M:Panel Support support@mobilepanel.co.uk Followed hotly by (I guess an automated) email saying they are not receiving my data!! I've replied and I'll post any updates. Well!! Close to 4 month on and I got an email... I wont re-post it as it's a waste of time but the general gist was a) reinstall from the link to the cab provided (did that months ago) I let them know that it appears no-one with a TyTNII can run the software. We'll see what they have to say about that.....at Xmas time! |

An Update:
QUOTE We apologize for the inconvenience. Our software attempts to connect to the local server each time that the software is reinstalled and if the local server is busy the software will at times attempt to connect to our other servers. We see that you were having problems installing the software and were attempting to install using the various methods we provided you. If you could please uninstall the software and cease attempting to reinstall hopefully that will stop the charges. If you could also send us your phone bill we would be happy to reconcile the charges. no mention on if its going to be fixed any time soon ... Matt |

I've only just seen this.
Did anyone know M:Metrics had been taken over? -------------------- He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

We'll see what they have to say about that.....at Xmas time! Just thought I'd mention that I have an AT&T Tilt and have for several months now...they still have me listed as "T-Mobile MDA" on their site and I installed the .cab I had from my mda and I've shown as active for last several months without issue....I have however had problems going Inactive in the past and customer service was indeed poor. I actually had to go around the world to get my signup money but at this point seems to be working on on my "TyTn II". Previously when I went "inactive" even when running the program I had to go get a newer version of the program and install it to "fix" it...figured that out on my own cause tech support didn't have a clue. As a followup to my previous post....I did find that the mmetrics software made SEVERAL unauthorized international sms's to the UK. The # was +447624806298. If yours also does this do the following:
Navigate to HKLM\software\mmetrics\meter Ensure the the value is not: 1010 NOT = 447624806298 <--- this is BAD (for us in USA) Just thought I'd mention that I have an AT&T Tilt and have for several months now...they still have me listed as "T-Mobile MDA" on their site and I installed the .cab I had from my mda and I've shown as active for last several months without issue....I have however had problems going Inactive in the past and customer service was indeed poor.
