Device(s): M600

I thought I'd upgrade to a M600, currently got a M500. Spoke to customer services, it would cost me £50, which I was happy to pay and was told I'd have it in a couple of days, excellent or so I thought! The package arrived as promised 2 days later, but with a C600 not a M600. Phoned Orange up, no problem they said, we'll pop a jiffy bag in the post and you can return it. Ok, but what about my M600? Well we can't do anything about until we get the C600 back. I explained that I was a customer of long standing, regularly spent over £100 a month, surely trust should come into this and that they could send my new phone now. No, it's not us, it's the system, it won't allow us to do that. Not a lot I could do, so 4 days later the jiffy bag arrives and I make the effort to take it to the Post Office and return the C600. One week later my bill arrives with the upgrade fee added to it, but still no M600. Phoned them up, apparently it's down to me to reorder the phone, it's not automatically sent when they get the return back!!! I did lose my rag this time and ask to be put through to retentions, it was pointed out to me that I would have to pay £250 to leave them!
I can't believe that such a cock-eyed system is in place, their mistake but I've now been waiting for my new phone for getting on 3 weeks, having been promised it in 2 days! Am I expecting to much, can I take this further, should I take it further? Their mistake, but the onus is on me to correct it at my own expense and time, ridiculous!!!!! mad.gif
Sorry about that, rant over, any help or suggestions appreciated.

You've got every right to lose it with them . I had exactly the same problem with them when my charger broke. Thier system said it was a phone fault even tho i could charge my phone using my c500 charger. at a cost of £15 admin they sent me out a new phone.. god only knows why the old one was fine. I now have to register my new emei number and claim for a new charger at an extra £15 admin fee. Well I say BOLLOX to that. Off I trot to my local market stall and picked one up for a £5 note wink.gif and they wonder why I'm using an O2 sim in my phone the only good thing about them at the moment is I'm not using thier services anywmore.

Orange are really going down hill. As for taking it further I wouldn't bother. you have to write to them by letter stating your problem giving them all the people you've spoke to on the OCS team.. Stuff em drop your tarrif and get a sim only package from O2 400 mins & 1000 txts for £30 a month free internet and picture messages come out out of your 1000 txts taking 3 txts for every picture sent AND video sent wink.gif

One call to trading standards will sort this out, if you are still having hastle getting it. Phone them again, ask to have it sent out immediately, with you incuring no additional cost. If they say they can't just mention that you'll be speaking to Trading Standards. That ought to be enough to get them moving, but if they don't you may need to look up where your T.S. local office is & give them a call. http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/

I would tell O where to go but move to T-mob - with unlimited data and flext they are very good value.

Expecting anything from O these daus seems to be expecting to much.

Shame because they used to be so good....

Well I bit my tongue, called Orange back to re-order the M600, guess what, none in stock! Unfortunately (for me) my local Orange shop had one in stock, offering the same deal as before! Being a sucker for gadgets, I had to get it. But a long letter will be going to Orange, and as soon as I can afford it, I'll be off to O2 or T-Mobile. And I will mention Trading Standards in my letter!

I worked for Orange for 6.5 years and I know how bad the system is on their end.

If they had processed the M600 without waiting for the C600 to clear the system they would have added a £300+VAT charge to your bill for virtually upgrading twice. There isn't a way to avoid that fee as its the system that puts it on, the reason it can't be avoided is because you'd get CSRs upgrading their mates phones every few days, it would be far to open to abuse.

I can well imagine the frustration at your end but there is literally nothing they can do until the upgrade has been received and processed.

The reason they tried to slap a 250 pound charge on you for leaving is because you'd basically just taken out a new contract. However, since you've got 14 days to cancel "no questions asked" when you take out a contract, they were completely in the wrong. I would CC your letter to trading standards.
