We all know Kl1wdr, the owner and founder of www.kleinweder.ch who has made significant contributions to the Windows Mobile realm by creating many home screens for people literally worldwide to better enjoy their powerful Windows Mobile devices.

Unfortunately, Microsoft has recently forced Kl1wdr to shutdown his website because Microsoft disapproves him using their trademark Windows flag and or other copyright objects.

This petition has been created in hopes Kl1wdr will continue working on home screens and for Microsoft to reconsider.

Now, the motive here is NOT to criticize Microsoft – rather for Kl1wdr to understand we really value his work and to continue working – even after removing the copyrighted material. It is certainly understandable that Microsoft has every right to protect its property and respectable image – we just want to continue enjoying Kl1wdr’s great work!

Again, please show your support by replying to this thread to show Kl1wdr how much we value his contributions.

UPDATE: it looks like there is no need for this petition anymore because the site is back up and it was just a misunderstanding as some have put it. Nevertheless, good to know the site is back online! Good also to see the support on this thread… biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Here here...it should stay open....otherwise one of the main features of WM is clamped down on the poor efforts Microsoft make!

Kl1wdr, mach weiter so, Du bist der beste!!!

I hope, he can just remove the themes with the built-in MS logo, and continue his work. Maybe he/somebody (a lawyer) can write to MS a letter to get a permission to continue his site/work without these themes. In my opinion without his themes MS smartphones will lose their faces. I think, more than 50% of smartphone users, who are not just using them to make a call have his themes installed.

I suspect there is a way around this problem - can the logo be obscurred in the screenshots etc?

You could always lock the device's keypad - that way the start button isn't displayed wink.gif

But yes - bring back the Kleinweder homescreens, we miss them dearly.

It is fairly simple to get approved by MS as a "designed for windows mobile" developer and thus have blanket approval to use their logos.

Hope you go for it and can thus continue unhindered.

Very strange ... I guess that the MS spys didn't come sniffing around here, coz there's a couple of my themes that use windows logos ... why just pick on Kleinweider?? Hmm ... anyway, glad to see that it is now back in operation.

Glad it's back up!
But I don't get their reasoning, if it says windows mobile etc or has the windows logo on it (and it's a non profit homescreen) then surely it's good advertising for them? Can't see the problem...
Also there are tons and tons of other screens that use windows logos etc, I can't see how it can be anything but good for them when others look at the phones with the awesome themes on.
Like someone said they should be pleased as well, as some people might think Microsoft made them, and they're much better than any they can come up with...
