Hey kids

Simple and yet utterly infuriating problem:
I need to find a way to lock the handset and use media player at the same time, thus enabling me to use the phone in an "ipod" kinda way...

Up to now, I've had no luck at all!

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Alex

The best way I have found is use Pocket Player as your media player and then in the settings you can lock the phone and switch off the screen but still keep the player control unlocked (play, pause, volume and track forward and back)
You can download a free 30 day trial of Pocket player so give it a go and see what you think.
Much better media player than WMP as well.
Have fun.

Well, tcpmp isn't free anymore, but the pre version 1 builds are still out there.

Don't forget that you can assign a button to "toggle screen" int the WMP options and then only the Dpad and action button are live. No need to install anything else.

or with a wired headset attached an voice command1.6 installed you can have the keys locked the button used to initiate voice command should still work does on my phone and you can ask the wmp to play stop next and previous shuffle on and shuffle off.

now thats the simplest but ultimetly most expensive solution,

you could use auto key lock thats free and set it so thatcertian keys do not lock when the lock engages leaving those buttons free for you to use as your WMP player keys.
