Hey all,

My i-mate SP5 is currently being quite problematic sad.gif

It suffers from the following problems:

1. Speaker and microphone are not working where I'm unable to speak to anyone on the phone although I can send and receive SMS messages fine. I can hear through my headphones fine if that makes any difference.
2. Profile not being remembered, everytime I turn on the phone, it doesn't set profile I setted it to huh.gif
3. Down button (joystick) doesn't always work

I did a hard reset yesterday and these problems are still happening ohmy.gif

Can anybody please suggest any fixes for my problems please? smile.gif

Thanks smile.gif

Is it stuck in headphone profile?

I've tried playing music in WMP with the headphones in and then taking them out to hear music from the loud speaker but nothing can be heard from it, I've tried several times along with changing profiles when the music was playing which doesn't make any difference. This is with the volume on its highest huh.gif

Hey

Have you tried doing a hard reset?

(you hard reset by: turning phone off, hold BOTH soft keys in, at the same time turn the phone on, keep your eyes on the screen, a message is going to pop up saying something like 'press 0 to restore factory defaults' press 0 and it will reset your phone for you!)
be aware though that you will lose all of your SMS's and any phone numbers saved on the sim card

i came across this neat little trick last week, where, you'll find in the smartphone directory a file called 'pim.vol' if you copy this over to your computer, do a hard reset, copy the file back over to your phone, replace the one thats there, reboot and hey presto, all your numbers are back!

it looks more like a software issue i think, best to rule this out before sending it off to be repaired!

sounds like the good old headset problem to me......

Get a paperclip and wiggle it around inside the headphone socket a bit and see if that helps wink.gif

Phil

[EDIT: And i dont mean gentley poke the phone with the paper clip, really give it a good hammering ohmy.gif]

duke_stix, that's the way I performed the hard reset to my phone smile.gif

The Doctor, I managed to fix it using your method, thanks! biggrin.gif

I tried WMP playing through the loudspeaker which I couldn't hear anything until I tried using the paper clip inside the headphone socket, it started playing through the loudspeaker but if I took the paper clip out, it would stop playing and as you said, a good hammering fixed it, thanks again! smile.gif

biggrin.gif Glad you got it sorted, my C550 needed more drastic treatment to fix it permanently, ie. desoldering the headphone socket form the phone mainboard, cleaning in an ultrasonic bath, then resoldering back onto mainboard. Still doesn't _quite_ work as it should sometimes (sometimes sticks in headset mode but can be fixed by putting the headphones back in then out again)

Anyway, glad you got it sorted smile.gif

[EDIT: Regarding the joystick, lock the keypad, maul (yes, maul) the joystick with your thumb, i also use an air duster just to get rid of any crap that mght be inside by spraying it down the side of the joystick, but you could probably get away with blowning down the side of it.]

Phil
