Hi,
I am new to this forum and to owning a pocket pc phone, I have a MDA Compact III and would like a question answered if possible. I would like to know if there is a way of adding my own ringtone/sound to Text message alerts. I would be grateful for any help. Regards La Coruna |

This is very easy!
Notifications are best used as WAV files of less than 25KB, though some devices can use MP3. Copy the WAV file you want into My Device/Windows; now go to Start/Settings/Sounds and Notifications. The Drop Down box allows you to select a large number of variables. In your case, scroll down to Messaging/New SMS then select Play Sound- you should be able to choose your new file from the file browser. Rintones should be WMA, MID or MP3, and are stored in Windows/Rings. Use the same control as above to make the selection- Phone/Incoming Call -------------------- NeilM: Site Moderator and Reviewer on 4WinMobile

In that case, try putting the WAV files into My Device/Application Data/Sounds
Just tried it on my P3600 and worked OK for Notifications and Phone Ringtones -------------------- NeilM: Site Moderator and Reviewer on 4WinMobile

They haven't... Application Data/Sounds and Windows directories on the device should work fine!

I transfer all my WAV files into the main Windows folder on my MDA Compact III and they all come up fine.
