I just upgraded my Orange SPV C500 to the new E650. However, I don't know how to transfer my contacts / calendar items. Even the technical support department at Orange could not help me.

- The C500 has the option to 'beam' contacts but this is only using infra-red.

- The E650 does not have infra-red! I can sync my C500 to my Mac using Missing Sync but Missing Sync does not yet support the E650 and even if it did it no longer runs on OSX 10.3.9 which I have.

- The C500 has a backup application in the Orange folder under applications. The E650 does not have this application so I cannot restore to it.

Does anyone have any smart ideas on how to do this? I would be REALLY grateful as entering all my data manually is going to take forever.

Marc

You could also do it via Bluetooth... However I'm presuming you may have a few to do?? Best thing would be to set up an account on your PC and hook the C500 up via Activesync and sync with Outlook. Once sync'd with the PC then hook up the E650 and download them onto that phone biggrin.gif

You're missing a huge part of a Smartphone's functionality if you're not linking up to Outlook or using it with a data plan.
If you haven't the former, but have the latter, could you sync up to a free MS Exchange server over the air, e.g. live.mail2web.com?
That way you can switch devices and still keep your calendar, tasks and contacts up to date, not matter where you are.
Otherwise, its a case of borrowing a PC that's got Outlook installed, setting up a temporary profile, and doing a sync with both devices.

How? The C500 does not allow contacts to be sent over bluetooth.

I don't have a PC. I have a Mac.
