Should be possible, right?

Could do with a Linux guru in here to help us out I suspect biggrin.gif

I plan to use the WiFi adhoc tweak to turn my device into an access point, and get online that way! Tethering would be handy though...

Paul I dont understand why you would want to turn the EEE into an access point.... Hmmm dont tell me - Plug it in at work then have a wireless point for your 'other' devices ?

Should be no problem then. However adhoc does seem to suck a bit. The only other issue is how far you want to push the security or what the kaiser/eee are capable of.

For me personally its WPA2 AES and nothing less but its tricky getting the devices to support it and support it and in a stable state.

Obviously at home with my wireless infrastructure i'd use proper security, but even with adhoc set up this way you can at least enable WEP, which is sufficient for these purposes.

Mine should arrive in the next few days!

It's Xandros, which is a Debian fork IIRC.

Should be easy then...

/etc/network/interfaces

For WPA

#auto wlan0
#iface wlan0 inet dhcp
# pre-up /sbin/wpa_supplicant -Dwext -iwlan0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf -d
d &
# post-down /usr/bin/pkill wpa_supplicant

For WEP

#auto ipw2100
#iface ipw2100 inet static
#iface ipw2100 inet dhcp
#### pre-up iwconfig ipw2100 mode managed key open WEPKEY
essid SID

change mode to adhoc etc etc

Oh yeah, sure, assuming the Kaiser likes adhoc WPA etc. too. Don't see any reason why not.

I'd love to get some information on tethering my Smansung Blackjack 2 with Xandros, on my EEE. Mobile data would just make this the perfect combination!

I have scoured the internet for weeks looking for information on this, and have come across nothing that helps me.

I have used the internet connection sharing hack from chudy, but when I click connect, it tells me to check the USB connection. I know that nothing is wrong with my USB cable, as I can use it in Windows.

The Xandros OS detects my phone as a CDMA device. I cant make sense of it.

The phone is GSM.

Anyone got any insight on this matter?
