Just thinking of getting an 360 for my daughter got one question about memory cards, I'm thinking of getting the Arcade version so without having the hdd how many save games etc can be stored on the memory card or is the hdd a must?

for playing arcade games, no, you can easily get the memory card and store any info on that. the hdd is useful for downloading additional arcade games and music/movie clips etc that take up greater amounts of storage space.

This article would be a good read: Should You Buy An Xbox 360 Hard Drive?

Yes. The hdd is great. With you can can download demos, trailers, themes, gamer pics, etc. I think the 20gb is fine (although its only about 13gb useable). But I always delete demos when I'm done with them. Besides you can probably get a premium with hdmi whereas I believe the arcade is only the older model (which is what I have, but more connection options can't be a bad thing).

I would recomend getting an Elite if buying a 360 just buy a few microsoft points i recon...but if your commited to the arcade then should be fine if you don't want to buy more arcade games...I would say a ps3 is more a feminim console as i dont feel that a 360 is a "girly" console with only a few games being a more "girly" game e.g. ViVa PiNaTa.

I don't think the elite would be necessary. Unless you're downloading a ton of demoes and movies 20gb should be enough.

btw I just read something that says the arcade system only comes with demos, not full games. Making it a total rip off.

Don't think so (tho I don't have the Arcade version myself)

How much extra is the arcade than the core ?? as it might be worth buyin a core then connect and buy some arcade games...the games you actually want rather than get stuck 5 possibly unwanted 1s

The Arcade is the replacement for the Core system and the five games are only old arcade classics that you can download anyway.
Also the Arcade has the new chip so it's supposed to run cooler plus it has the HDMI output as standard.
